Seahawks look scary

I agree its pretty pointless to break down a team that odds are we won't face (even assuming both teams have a 70% chance of winning each playoff game, there is still only a 24% chance that they will meet in the SB). All I can say is that an offensive performance along the lines of yesterday is not going to cut it against any AFC playoff opponent, let alone the best of the NFC.

Russell Wilson is the worst possible matchup for Belichick. BB is mediocre to bad vs Mobile QB's and RW is the cream of the crop in that regard.

I'll pass given the choice.

Actually, NE already faced the worst possible matchup, Rodgers. Wilson has the edge in rushing, but Aaron is reasonably close and is substantially superior at passing and throwing on the run (better receiving weapons, too).

Wilson would have another edge in that NE would have to go heavy to counteract Seattle's running game, which would likely slow down the pass rush even more and give the receivers more favorable matchups.

I don't think I've said that the Patriots are losing once. I just don't think they match up well against Seattle. Who is to say either team even gets there?

I wasn't referring to you Kontra but more to the thread on the whole. I don't disagree with anyone who sees the Seahawks as the toughest matchup for the Patriots if they get to the Super Bowl, I just see this as way to premature as both teams still have to get there and that won't be easy. Hopefully the Patriots Get there, if so I have confidence in them to win that game regardless of who they play.

Fair enough.

How is flipping their corners relevant?

Did you not read the comment that you posted that I was replying to? You implied Sherman was going to cover Gronk. Unless Gronk splits out wide and to the right, that ain't happening.

But Their offensive line is below average and they have no wrs. They're not scoring against us unless they have a field day rushing

With Seattle's defense, Wilson just has to get his team to 20 points and it's pretty much game over. He doesn't have to be as good as rodgers.

Completely agree. Don't understand the people in this thread under rating Seattle. I consider their defense one of the better defenses in NFL history, and the Pats offense isn't that great if you can get to Brady and take Gronk out of the game, 2 things I think Seattle could do easily. We've seen it time and time again too, a good defense starts to get to Brady and he gets skittish in the pocket and we start dinking and dunking it down the field because it's the only way to move the ball.

Wilson's mobility is so under rated too, he has almost 1,000 yards rushing and 6 TDs on the season. His ability to extend plays with his feet and find open guys is amazing. Would much rather play GB or Dallas in the Super Bowl but I don't see anyone beating SEA at home.

I think you are getting caught up in the media hype and highlight reels, designed to make teams look better than they really are. I've seen three Seahawks games this season, I know it's not a lot to judge them by, but I didn't see this "Greatest Defense of All-Time," and the unstoppable Russell Wilson that you and everybody else is seeing. Aaron Rodgers played like crap in that opener, he was way too conservative, especially for him. There was nothing memorable about Seattle's D, offense or that game honestly. The Carolina game, I know Newton was injured, though he sucked before the injuries, but he and his O-line were playing like complete trash and Russell Wilson wasn't playing any better. The Denver game, I saw Manning in one quarter tie the game after being shut out through the majority of the game, that old man versus, this so-called young, fast and physical defense. No. Imagine if he had got the ball back first in OT. Probably would've won it.

It is easier for us to see problems with the Patriots, because we see them on a week-to-week basis. I'm sure other teams' fan-bases are talking about how scary the Patriots offense look and how bad it is to play against Revis' Island and the genius of Belichick, they don't see our putrid O-line or how bad or suspect Ryan, Dennard, Butler, McCourty(yes he's garbage) and Arrington in the secondary is. In fact, they think the O-line is good, because statistically Brady is among the least sacked QBs in the league and ESPN is quick to remind them that the Patriots are the class of the AFC, during seasons where Manning sucks.
I remember being at the Saints and Patriots game last season. Everybody was leaving, but the Saints fans, and there was a whole section of them across from my section, didn't believe the game was over, the one lady said, it's hard to count out Brady. I told her good luck and congratulated her team and was heading out of there. I got to the bottom level and went to get one last peak of the game, when I saw the TD and the crowd erupt and thought HOLY **** HE DID IT! That's when I realize opposing fans have more faith in the Patriots than we do.

And I would love to see Sherman getting physical and yapping at Gronk. He'll find out what physical play is when he's layed out in the stands.

I believe Sherman was defending Jimmy Graham against the Saints in the playoff game last year, so I wouldn't be surprise if they try to put him on Gronk. Gronk will kick his little puney behind out of the club too.

Sherman v Graham is not an apt comparison for Gronk. Sherman would have defended him when he was on his side of the field split wide (as is often the case with Graham he is lined up as a WR, as he and his agent noted during contract negotiations). If anyone lined up to his side then he'd defend him, but it's not like they lock him on the guy all game.

The Seahawks got into Graham's head before that game, started a fight with him, didn't let him catch the ball, and then talked **** about him afterwards. Hilarious and awesome, yes. A parable for how Gronk would be handled in a similar game, no.

They would totally lock our offense, even at full health, down. Meanwhile, they have a mobile quarterback who is accurate on offense and we all know what our defensive game plan is against those guys. They're the team in the NFC that I really don't want to see.
I love all the homers that disliked this comment including the biggest of them all. People saying the Seattle team is scary are the same as the people who thought Seattle would get 30+ put on them in the Super Bowl.

It's not being a homer to think that a 12-3 team (could finish 13-3) with the highest scoring average in the NFL and one of the greatest QB's in NFL history has a CHANCE to score 20+ points in the super bowl. The post you're quoting (and the argument that blossomed from it) mark that as a distinct impossibility, which I found to be silly.

Which match-ups for our offense vs. their defense do you favor and why? You're free to discuss our ground game as well as our passing attack.

Not really. They're just people that are really, REALLY underrating the match-up aspect of football. This Patriots team, as it's currently constructed, does not match-up well with Seattle at all. PARTICULARLY on offense.

EDIT: And at least Sicilian (who I respect as a member here) debated me on it. The rest just clicked the dislike button, blew the sand out of their hoo-ha's, and left.

Says the troll

Oh god the mighty hawks what are we gonna do. They beat Ryan Lindley and Sean Hill. I'm shaking. Seriously u chicken littles are driving me nuts. We have a healthy Rob Gronkowski get that through your heads. Healthy Gronkey Kong=trump card. Demon sanders said it the other day, there is no answer the question "How do you cover Gronkowski."

I hate posters who do that. Its so soft. If you disagree, then let's engage in a respectful debate. So frickin soft.

Oh please. So now because I don't have a specific gameplan mapped out, I'm not allowed to say that there's a chance that the Pats can score 20 points in the Super Bowl? Is that really how you want to play this? You're welcome to live in your gloom cave where everything that has ever sucked will continue to suck forever, and that unless your team goes into a post season without a single weakness they have no shot against a team that has a strength opposite to it. I choose to live in the real world where sports isn't a math formula, and instead is played by human beings in a variety of conditions. And once again, I'm not saying they WILL score against Seattle if they meet them there, just that they CAN. Are you honestly telling me there's NO chance that they can? If so, have fun with that, but I vehemently disagree with your philosophy.

Ok so if you are so sure about it, if the Pats and Seahawks meet in the SB put your membership on the line that Seattle will dominate the Pats offense.

It's not. But to think that Seattle couldn't POSSIBLY execute well enough to lock down the Patriots isn't inconceivable. Also, when I think of lock down, it means 16 or less points. Seattle is more than capable of doing that.
