From Peter King's MMQB column:

Not sure whether to give the Patriots a mulligan for a truly unimpressive offensive day at the Meadowlands, or to have some concern for what happens when a good defense comes to Foxboro in the playoffs. Leaning toward the latter. Julian Edelman, the Kent State security blanket, had better be healthy in January or teams will devote way too much defensive energy on Rob Gronkowski.

Denver 27, Cincinnati 24. Interesting times in Denver, where the Broncos have become the kind of team John Fox used to have in Carolina: run first, pass second. (Well, that’s the way it’s been for the past month anyway.) That could change tonight. In the past six games, Cincinnati’s defense has allowed 3.3, 2.9, 3.4, 3.0, 6.2 and 3.1 yards per rush. The Bengals could be in the bizarre position tonight of trying to force the Broncos to go away from the run—and go toward Peyton Manning. We shall see, but I think we’re going to be writing after the game tonight that the reports of the demise of Peyton Manning have been greatly exaggerated.

This is just one example of the media. The Broncos offense struggles over multiple games and are forced to run the ball and they make excuses for Manning. The Pats offense has a really bad game with three starters out and it is now a cause for concern that good defense is going to shut down the Pats' offense in the playoffs. It was the same thing when it comes to Brady's struggles early in the season (he is declining) and Manning's struggles over the last month (he is putting making the Broncos offense better suited for the playoffs over his own personal stats).

If you get worked up every time Peter King is a hypocrite, you'll never be happy. The man is a grade A hack and a mouthpiece for the NFL brass. He's second on my all time worst list next to Gregggg Easterbrook.

"...the Kent State security blanket.." [Edelman]

Wow.. snark in true Florian form that.

I'm sorry, I thought the Patriots were the only team with three 750+ receivers. Doesn't that mean Brady spreads the ball around more than any other quarterback?

Eh, of all the writers I think peter is the most fair across the board. But I agree you can't get upset over what these guys write, their job is to make it less boring and get people to read.

It really isn't about him. His column just represents the hypocrisy. Whenever Brady struggles, it is he is declining or there is a flaw with the Pats' offense. When Manning struggles, it is because he is great teammate and he is doing whatever it takes for the Broncos to win a Super Bowl.

1) Fair? Please.
2) In addition, he's one of the literally least self-aware and stupidest writers out there.
3) On top of all that, he's a pretty disgusting person. Don't forget his column where he congratulated himself for stealing a foul ball or HR from a kid.

Oh give me a break, I said "most" fair, so don't make it look different than what I said. Not only that name a writer that's better, I can find huge flaws in all of them and will. Just because you don't like what he writes about ...whatever. I find him fair across the board, but because you don't like what he writes doesn't mean much.

I feel really sorry for Rob.
Time and again he subjects himself to horrible anti-Pats writers and execrable radio shows and vents his tortured soul here creating anguished threads about their latest outrages.
The radical thought of simply avoiding this garbage is anathema to him.

What good defense in the AFC would be coming to Foxboro if Pats get HFA?

If the AFC playoff picture holds like it is now only team the Pats haven't played and beat this year are the Steelers and we all know how Brady shreds LeBeau's defense.

We dont have the same oline of the past which helped brady set the protection and pick up the blitzers. So this year doesnt mean much vs past years. Brady can see what lebeau is doing but his oline is still a question mark.

True, but somehow I don't think being equally incompetent no matter what team he is discussing is what people generally mean by "fair." :)

The offensive line was worse last year and Brady put up 50 on them.

If you are one to get worked up about stupidity in the media, don't listen to the replay of this morning's Mike&Mike. Chris Carter was a cornucopia of idiocy: Dominic Raiola is an honorable guy, Revis had great players around him back when he was elite, blahdy blahdy blah.

I almost started feeling sorry for him until I realized that he's getting paid a lot of money to say stupid ****. I'd do that for half of his salary, ESPN!

Maybe in the # of sacks but this year has been the more inconsistent/green and unreliable oline we have had. Just my opinion.

Maybe in the run game, but definitely not in pass pro.

I used to like king but have realized he writes a whole lot of nothing. But regardless what he says about the broncos which people seem to get obsessed about, his concern for our offense is something I share as well. Ugh.

And your opinion is wrong

OTOH, though, you could look at it this way: He subjects himself to it, so we don't have to. In that regard, he's performing a very valuable public service. For that, we must thank him profusely!! :D
