I can't imagine a tougher game plan and more motivated team to test us in a win. They say styles make fights and the Jets are built to test our tender spots and they play like a real rival most (buttfumble) of the time against us.

Also, Rex Ryan is a hell of a defensive coach and he really doesn't have much else to play for or to live for, he would have loved to knock us off.

Is the Patriots game in the Meadowlands his Super Bowl? Not exactly.

It's the Super Bowl, the Running of the Bulls, Christmas, New Years, a pair of size 7's in f**k me pumps and an endless salty, greasy goldamn snack. He's been preparing for this for months, I'm sure.

I'm no X and O guy, but it seemed he had endless risky, gimmick plays on both sides of the ball and we didn't wake up to it for a good while. Direct snap wildcats, fake reverses etc. and we actually covered some well. Their O Line played well and their pass rush was imaginative and incessant.

They took a lot of risks in the pass rush, undoubtedly leaving gaping holes to be exploited. But, like the '85 Bears, you had to be on your toes and fearless to exploit them and we just didn't have the fire they did after a long season (being human).

In the end, they go home, Rex might or not be fired, and we are much better off for having had this test and triumphed (IMO). Any defense can be defeated if you have the right adjustments, are on your game and control the tempo. Not the first time we had an incredible team that couldn't lose against a defense that went all in on the pass rush, daring us to adjust. I won't mention when.

We can move the ball down the field anytime against any team any time when we are patient and quick, have good play sequence and get rid of the damn ball. That's what won us three titles, not the long ball or fancy running game. That puts us in control, that stops and tires a pass rush, that makes the running game and long passing game work.

We abandon what Brady is best at - patient, long drives composed of short passes and runs, and we'll suffer. Slow, indecisive starts give opponents a chance, why do that? Every team has weaknesses, there's a salary cap.

Thanks to the Jets for a little slice of humble pie and some good film to watch. Better to happen now in a win, than later in a loss.

Going by your title, I assumed this was a rare appreciation for the much disliked opponent, but the contents - which I agree with btw - for most part don't reflect the title IMO.

I think I would call this "Jets Game Appreciation Thread" :)

Of course. It's just appreciation for a rival that gave us a good game we will benefit and learn from. I used to be a huge Celtics fan before i moved and lapsed and i recall the hated 76ers giving us a hell of a series and the fans rising up with the chant beat LA. Like two fighters that punch the crap out of each other and make each other fight better than they thought they could.

I couldn't care less about the franchise, they're pitiful and not even worth hating.

They're moving to LA, Comrade Roger moving mountains and getting a Big Bonus from the Owners. Woody acts like he either doesn't give a poop or has other plans.

I actually respect Rex Ryan and wish him the best after the Jets let him go for seemingly no reason. He deserves better and should have success as a D coordinator somewhere.

Don't ever put Jets and appreciation in the same sentence unless you're referring to us appreciating the fact that they're dysfunctional selves are in our division. :)

Your owner better fix that losing culture in a hurry then. He may be dreaming of winning something meaningful.
JJ Watt's team went 2- 14 and he still took the money. Calvin Johnson, for the most part, has been on crappy teams, but he's still happily the highest paid WR in the league. Oh yea, Joe Haden (although I think he is overrated ), took the money to play for a medicore team as well. Larry Fitzgerald, and the list goes on and on.

If being paid is the only thing that matters, then Richardson won't make a very good fit in Foxboro.
On the other hand, right now, you're still talking as if the Jets actually have a rebuilding strategy, when it's not even clear that they're going to get rid of the people most responsible for your troubles (GM, scouting staff).

J'-e-t-s jets jets jets!!

They showed our boys what we need to work on. And gave them some humility. So I guess that's the silver lining?

Course they've had that to work on for about 5 years.

The Jets test us like no other team. Their 3-12 record goes out the window when they play the Pats. We beat them by 2 at the razor and 1 at their home. It will definitely be good film to watch and work on what ails us(O Line).

Nice post. The Jets played a tough game at home for their coach and fans against their chief rival.

At this time of year when giving is better than receiving, I most appreciate the Jets for going 5-20 in regular season games against the Patriots with Tom Brady as the starting QB, 4-9 under Rex Ryan against the Patriots. And for the Thanksgiving Day Butt Fumble. And for providing endless material for the annual Jets Suck thread, etcetera, etcetera, etcetera.

I appreciate that the Jets suck at special teams. The returns and blocked field goals in both games.

I will miss Wrecks. I just wish he could stick around with the Clippers....errrr Jets for a few more years. He blew (1) timeout overruling his OC and going for the long field goal as opposed to punting and pinning the Patriots deep. And then another (2) on a spot challenge on the key first down (the CBS camera angle in the backfield made this look a couple of inches short, but the spot was the spot and it was a first down. Odds of winning that challenge were about .0001%, great job Wrecks!
