Sure, many, including me, have harped him all season for being AWOL most of the time. But he was a big part in giving us the win today, as he was a big part of the first win vs. the Jets this year, when he made that huge TD catch in which we may have lost had he not made that catch. He made a lot of crucial catches today as well on the final drive, we could've been in big trouble had he not been there to make some of those plays at the end.

Props, Danny!

He has been a solid contributor over the past 8-9 games. Honestly, we are fortunate to have depth like Amendola who can slide into the starting lineup and produce. If he is willing to a pay cut in 2015 I would welcome his return. He is never going to be what many expected he'd be when he signed but he can be a piece to helping us win the SB.

His production is because of Jules
Care to explain? or do you mean his -lack- of production? In which case I agree, his lack of production has a lot to do with his being behind JE.

That's what I mean. Today we saw he can be a reliable slot guy but why when you have Jules, who can be much more.

Edelman is significantly better than Amendola so things worked out the way they should have. Amendola is a great luxury for this team to have though.

Jules definitely can do more on the field then Amendola who is just a slot guy

"Love the player, hate the contract" is what one poster said during the gameday thread, I am inclined to agree.

DA is never going to live up to that hefty contract we gave him, and he's not going to be a 8 rec per game guy in this offense, but I'm loving the work he does in The Special teams, and he's proven to be a really gutsy dude (one need only to look at that collarbone injury he sustained a few years ago). A lot of players would be disgruntled due to a decrease in playing time and quit on the team, Amendola on the other hand, has simply done his best to help his team out. On a reduced contract, I'd love to see him back.

Now I hope Jules comes back, the O-line fixes itself up, Mr Wright. becomes a big player in this O,,and Danny and the Special Teamers save their best for these (hopefully) next 4 games we play.

Edelman was missed today we scored 17 points and had a trouble on third down. No doubt he is limits Amendola's opportunities but the difference between them as players is noticeable. We will need Edelman out there if we want to win the SB.

I have grown to like Amendola. Primarily because I think he is kind of a badass and feisty. I like him as a kick returner. I think we can get his pay down and I expect him to be back.

a slot guy who averages less than 8 yards a catch. He was fine but nothing worth going crazy over.

I appreciate more now that he never plays.

Did anyone watch the actual game? Box score be damned, he is terrible. The Patriots run their whole offense around the slot receiver position; he SHOULD be open for some big gains. He gets zero separation, can't break tackles, can't accelerate, and always seems to come up just shy of the first down marker. He also stinks on kickoffs.

I was asking specifically about the comment that Amendola's production is due to JE. I agree that Edlemann is better.

I'm glad Danny got to play the hero.. Will he emerge during the playoffs? I dunno, but the more options the better.

Now I'd love to see Wright be the hero of a game, and for the O-line to restore some of the confidence that I've lost in them since the Packers game.

Oh I know I was more piggy backing your post not so much disagreeing with it. Sorry I should have just went without a quote.

Wright is looking less and less like the answer as a move TE. Tyms also not contributing. Both positions need strengthening. Amendola stepped up.

Jules averaged 6.5 catches per game for 69.4 yards. Amendola had 8 catches for 63 yards. Nearly identical production.

Edelman averages 12.3 yards per punt return (5th all time).

Amendola averaged 21.0 on 3 punts today.

Which is a small sample but I think shows Amendola can fill in for Jules with equivalent production when needed.

Dan gets my game ball.
Nothing wrong with that player other than being under used.
Him and Tim Wright both under used.

The thing that makes Edelman so good is his consistency. Stepping up for a game or two per season is terrific and I'll take it but the key to being a top 25 player at your position is consistency. Edelman has that and Amendola does not.

Also the yards per catch, the overall effectiveness of the offense with Amendola instead of Edelman was noticeable. Gronkowski was not able to get open because the Jets were not concerned with Amendola doing anything beyond 5-6 yards.

Wright is not going to make a noticeable impact on this team until 2015. He came in the last week of camp and just isn't a big part of the offense right now.
