Biggest off-season need(s)

This probably has to do with Nate Solder. Isn't he a free agent after this season? Frankly, BB needs to realize that this line needs a Left Tackle and two Guards. If the Pats don't make it to the Super Bowl, it will be because of the O-line. They are very beatable.

Nate Solder is locked up through March 2016, as they already picked up his 5th year option.

I think an argument could be made that we may need to explore other possibilities at LT though, so we're in agreement there.

G, 3rd cover guy, DT that can pass rush/stout vs run, DE that can rush the passer.

Offensive line is #1 but the wide out core needs help too. Their nickname should be "Two and a alf men." Edelman out badly hurt the offense, especially with little time to throw. Like I've said many times before, a Jabar Gaffney would be perfect.

I was viewing a guy like Jason Avant as a potential possession-type of receiver that could've fit in the mold of Jabar Gaffney, but apparently Belichick did not agree with my "expert" analysis ;)

Either way, he was signed by KC a couple/few weeks ago, but it sure would be nice to have another option. I'm guessing that the inability to pick up the system in such a small amount of time likely goes a long way towards why we rarely pick any WRs up during the season.

I disagree that the Patriots need a RG. I firmly believe that Fleming will be in that spot next year. Do they need a LG? Hell yes.

They need a reserve swing Tackle.

Cannon didn't do as bad as people say.. Neither did Kline.

Anything on the OL and a next contract for Revis

If Fleming becomes a starting guard then yes, you're right, that rebalances the need between guard and tackle.

The biggest need is keeping the secondary that we have (Revis, McCourty basically). After that, we could still use another S, a DE (assuming Ayers leaves), another WR, and some upgrades on the OL. I could be talked into RB and DT being needs as well.

Why sign cannon to a fat contract if he is not good?

i love nink. i like the value and love his character. but i sometimes wish we had a more athletic version of nink. somebody instinctive like nink, but with much better lateral agility and closing speed.

Guard, DE and keeping continuity.

I'm still not sure that I would like to pay Solder $7M next season. But it might be possible to move Vollmer to LT and have Cannon at RT(he did well there last year). But we still need to fix the guard position. That's a top priority for me. Draft a guard in the first or second round, and then another one in the early-mid(3-4-5). Another big bodied receiver would be nice too. I like Edelman and LaFell, but after them we don't really have anything. Doesn't need to be a sideline burner type guy(I'm not huge on deep threats), just someone who's big and plays physical.

So for me the need is Guard-WR-Guard.

man I see teams with great rbs like the 49ers, packers, Dallas, and I think what would be like for an DC to game plan for Brady and a good rb. All teams that face us are primarily worried about the pass. Give them a dose of dual threat, I wanted Carlos Hyde in the draft, I'm tired of jags RB, but BB doesn't give a **** to the position

Thanks. I wasn't sure about his contract. Regardless, the line needs an upgrade IMO.

Offensive line and someone that can rush the passer

Agreed. Good Points. What about a deep threat though? We've drafted defensive the past 3 drafts with our first selections. Maybe go offensive next year? (check your pm)

Most people here won't agree with me, but I think we need a Mike Evans at WR. Also, OL and a Pass Rusher.

Biggest offseason need will be tons of alcohol. Either to

1) Celebrate with bottles of champagne after #4

2) Drown my sorrows in if the season ends any other way

Interior OL has been a need for years now.

I think they can still cut solder and not pay him for that extra year.

I could see them cutting Vollmer too.

What good is cannon though?
