Edelman concussion?

You said the decision is out of the Pats' hands. I am curious about why that would be, and still am.

Players diagnosed with a concussion can not return until cleared by an unaffiliated 'expert':

But even after a player is cleared by the team doctor, he must be evaluated by an independent concussion expert approved by the NFL and NFL Players Association.

eh they have enough guys to play to beat the Jets, Sit JE and let him rest.
By God I hope you're right and I'm wrong. I get the sense that a lot of people here think this game will be a piece of cake. I don't. I feel less confident about this game than I do about the Bills game and I think Buffalo is a much better team than the Jets. I think the Jets will p!ay fast and loose, go for it on 4th down, fake punt, onside kick, etc. Now, those things can all backfire, but they also have the potential to be damaging to the Pats. I also think that the Jet players all realize that they're playing for jobs next year, either there or elsewhere. Combine all of that with it being Ryan's last home game, and I believe the potential is there for real trouble. I hope I'm dead wrong, which has certainly happened before.

Why don't the Pats have the right to hold him out as a precaution?
They do have the right to hold him out. They can't play him without a third party ok.

Need at least a week off for this. Might as well skip buffalo too.

And everything until the SB. Gronk also, too dangerous to risk him playing. I might even wait until the second half of the SB to see if we really need them both.

You just want to up TFB's 4 th QTR comeback stats

To answer the question above, they'd consider holding him out because a concussion makes a person more susceptible to more concussions, and the closer a person is to the last one they had, the more susceptible he is to having another one. Each concussion increases the odds of more concussions, and increases the amount of long term damage. Giving him some distance from his last one would help protect him for future games, and reduce the amount of permanent damage he will have from them.

The guy takes more significant blows to the head in the open field than anyone we've had since Welker. I'd hope there is some concern about that.

It's out of the Pats' hands because he can't play until/unless he passes the concussion protocol and is cleared to go. So, until he's cleared, there's no decision to be made, which means it's out of their hands.

And yes, I'm aware of how concussions work, but if he's cleared to play then he will almost certainly (and should) play. There's a time and a place for holding guys out when they're medically cleared and fully able to play, and a two-game stretch within your division to decide the #1 seed is not that time/place. If we win these next two games, he'll have two weeks (and a month-plus with no travel) to get however much rest he needs.

We can win this game without him. I mean if he can't play the Pats will win the Jets :D :D :D :D

You have to heal a concussion when you get it. You can't play on it and let it heal later. You'll make it worse. Be very surprised if he plays at all. Belichick doesn't want another Ted johnson on his hands.

I hope he sits these last two games.

He will be needed come playoff time.

Let's give amendola a chance to see what he's got.

OK. Your initial language was confusing. It sounded as if you were saying that if he were cleared to play by everyone involved, the Pats had to play him. Which isn't true. It can certainly be argued that he should play, under these circumstances, as you state above.

Kind of sad that we are saying that... two years into his tenure here.

I would start and play him if he's cleared by the concussion expert, but I'd also be inclined to limit his snaps and hopefully even sit him if we jump out to a 10-14 point lead at any point in the game.

It sure would be nice to see an early lead, then let him rest up.

As others have pointed out, we may not have that luxury. Personally, I do not take divisional games lightly as a fan.

If he plays, he'd better not score a TD -- too much risk of head-butts.

:p:cool:;)

He will be needed in the Buff game. We are still playing for something #1 seed that we NEED

If we jump to a big lead..sit him ect. But start him if he's clear

If he gets cleared he'll play. We can look to Solder for guidance on this.

If he clears use him on an as needed basis.

Solder isn't much guidance as he's not playing well. Plays like he's con cussed half the time.

He needs to set a trend wearing a beach ball sized padded helmet

Getting a "dog that didn't bark" vibe from Facebook.
JE 11 is a prolific social media poster with his almost daily GRIND, etc. working out posts.
But the only post this week is a promo for Best Buddies charity with Tommy Boy.
Thinking Jules will sit Sunday out.

Or is devious BB setting us up by controlling his minion?
