Congrats to Talib... I appreciate what he did here and would have taken the same contract.
However, it is pretty ridiculous that a week before, Darrelle Revis was about 5x more valuable than Talib was on Sunday. I watched both games and was actually at the Chargers game.
Talib didn't even cover Keenan Allen; Chris Harris did. He got the award because he hawked an INT late in the game during desperation time from a San Diego offense that couldn't move the ball while Allen had a broken collarbone.
In fact, in watching both the Patriots and Broncos game this weekend, it is obvious that Revis played far, far better than Talib this week as well. He doesn't get INTs because QBs don't throw in his direction, especially twenty yards downfield.
Kind of dumb that these awards are pretty much given based on "obvious" statistics only. Revis hasn't even won the award once despite being the second most valuable defensive player in the AFC.
