I'm fine with deporting these people

I just hope that my wife cannot be deported for yelling those Brady words at the TV at the end of the half
I have friends whose perspective would be precisely the opposite...

* Brady likely wasn't aware he was on television at the that moment.
* It doesn't take him off his game, it indicates how thoroughly focused he is on his game.
* It is not "unsportsmanlike," he wasn't directing it toward anyone.
* You are a goofy guy and a suspected Jets fan: http://www.patsfans.com/new-england...rex-to-bb-youre-getting-my-very-best.1114270/ (post No. 2)
Points two and three: completely agree
Point one: Disagree. He's been a high profile player in the League since 2001. He knows that anything he does on the sidelines can or will be on visual media ranging from network TV cameras to NFL Films Cameras to high power media cameras to cell phones to satellites if somebody at the NSA, CIA or DIA is a big Pats fan (that's a joke).
Point four: who knows?

Maybe he also knows that these networks broadcast under a set of FCC rules and that it is their responsibility to avoid airing profanities, something they are perfectly capable of doing, but chose not to in this circumstance.

Brady shouldn't be worrying about these things. He should do what he needs to do to win the game, not worrying about what the children will think.

Did anybody complain when Sexy Rexy said the same thing heading into the locker room some time ago?

You think the other 52 guys on the team don't use the F-word?

And he's typically not off his game when he's fired up, as evidenced as recently of the second half vs. Miami on Sunday.

It's not Brady's responsibility to control his language on the sideline. Again, it is 100% the responsibility of the broadcasters of the live event. If we are going to hold anyone accountable, it is them. But I don't see why we would care. Anyone who has a problem with grown men swearing in a violent game needs to rethink themselves.
This!.. The other 52 on the roster, practice squad, every player - coach in the NFL, every fan in the stands, every person on the planet.........

..ok, I went a little overboard

Where do I say he should be "worrying about what the children will think?" All I said was that he knows everything he does on the sidelines can or will be recorded visually. Whether he should or should not be careful about his language is another matter, but I wasn't addressing it there.

If anything, I was reacting to:

As a dad, I'd hope he could be aware that kids are watching, but as a fan, I understand that that's not always going to be possible.

I don't think that's a fair hope, and the latter half of the sentence is an understatement. I'm sure he's learned by now it's possible he could be on-camera at any moment, but fortunately, that appears to not concern him very much - nor should it.

all the NFL has to do is pass a rule banning obscenities on mike...they can say it on the field as most of that doesn't get picked up. But if it's loud enough to get picked up, then it's a big fat fine. They were actually going to do that with the N word. Other sports stars etc. can keep their thoughts together without resorting to profanities so Brady can too.

Do the networks share any responsibility in this, they seem to revel in his swearing??.. it is not like Brady is telling them to put the camera on him.. the producers choose what you see on the TV...

I am shocked to know that Brady or any player swears..

can't deport them, but we can excommunicate them

As a dad, if one of my kids told me he was dropping F-bombs because he saw Tom Brady or Tiger Woods do it, I'd tell him, "You win three Super Bowls or 14 Majors and you can say whatever you want. Until then, not in my house if you want to continue receiving your allowance."

(PS: I don't own a helicopter or a lawnmower.)
Ditto on that....

The term" helicopter parent" refers to those parents who hover above their kids and don't let them live/grow/make mistakes. The term "lawnmower parent" refers to those who effectively mow the lawn in front of little Johnie so there are no bumps int he road. Think of a parent who calls a college professor to complain about Junior's assignments or grades.....

Network television has a 10 second delay.

The decision to air Brady's F bombs came from the corporate suite.

I don't know whether a hope can be "fair" or not, but I certainly acknowledge, as did my other post, that in this case it's probably not reasonable.

Whether or not it should concern him is another matter. This is one of those things where we might have to keep two possibly contradictory ideas in our heads at the same time.

On the one hand, he's a highly competitive athlete in the middle of an emotional game speaking in the presence of his close teammates; hard to tell him not to vent his emotions in a reasonable and non-violent manner, which is how I would characterize dropping an F-bomb or two.

On the other hand, he's a marquee player in a multi-billion dollar enterprise that actively markets itself to kids (my sons have had Brady Jersey's since they could fit into the smallest size). "Should" it be something about which he is aware? I think it's "fair" to say "yes," just as it is reasonable not to criticize him when he curses up a storm in the heat of the moment.

Hope no children read this forum.

Thanks for the agreement.

I let my 11 year olds takes NYC buses and subway to school everyday, either alone or with friends, so I guess I'm not hovering. When either of my kids gets a bad grade, I tell them that it was their decision to go to a tough school, so we're going to have to figure out how they work harder to do better (and there aren't many lawnmowers in Manhattan).

"and Brady back to throw and it's caught by AMENDOLA! First down Patriots and they're headed to the SB. Oh wait a minute flag." "Unsportsman like conduct #12 offense, 15 yard penalty it's still 3rd down." "The broncos with a huge break here Jim, Brady can clearly be seen saying some unsportsman like language."
