I've been thinking about it a bit the past few days.

My problem with it is that it just doesn't make a whole lot of sense: why would you guarantee $100K+ (since you have to keep him on the 53 for three weeks) for a player who (A) won't see the field, and (B) probably won't make the roster next fall anyways?

Any Garoppolo-related problems seem put to rest given his playing on Sunday, so I can't really see that as the reason. And it certainly doesn't seem like BB et al. have any problems with Garoppolo.

The only thing that makes sense to me trying to explain this is that the Patriots are getting offers for Garoppolo that are at least good enough for them to consider. Does that seem like I'm leaping way too far, or does this at least seem plausible?

What is the report? I haven't heard anything on jimmy g.

Who knows if it was true, and if it was, what the real motivation behind it was?

IF the Pats believe that Brady will be around for 3+ years, then it wouldn't shock me to see them make Garoppolo available at some point if the price is right. To do that they would need an alliterative backup. But it's a bit of a stretch.

You need a extra camp arm NeXT year anyway. This would remove a "need" come draft time, and he would atleast know the system and culture a Little better. Add also the good thing with a extra QB on the roster just in case something happened.

When you do that 100k is cheap.

Just going to write this. Sounds like they might have had a spare roster spot by putting Easley on IR and they liked Fales and wanted to take him into camp next year. Probably nothing more to it than that.

They pay all kinds of marginal people money, why not this guy.

Normally I would say that no team would push for a sophomore qb without much playing time but honestly if a team misses on MM and Winston they may look at Garoppolo.however I doubt any team will give up a 1st rounder or multiple middle picks and that's what the team would want after just using a 2nd rounder on Jimmy G

Im NOT saying its gonna happend! But if there was a year Patriots should trade Brady, shouldnt it be this year? We have 1-2 "soso" Qbs and not much behind them, add to that 6-7-8 teams there in major need of a QB. Hes trade value wont be much better then this year.
