I know we are a far cry from the season ending, so stay with me. It's just every time I see Revis take the field for us, I can't help but be comforted by the fact that he's the best CB we have had since our last shutdown #24: Ty Law.

I also realize that sooner or later, the $20 million for next year will have to be confronted. We all know BB has never given out that money (Revis and Brady are the twice in a lifetime players to change that, but ignore that for the moment) to any player, regardless of what they have done or will do. This is the best I have seen the defense since 2004, maybe 2003, and it is pretty clear that starts and ends with Revis.

What are the chances we keep him? I love the guy, but we all know money is near the top of his agenda (next to winning of course) and I can't help but worry some team looking to make a splash like Cleveland or Minnesota will come in and give him top $.

Just one fan's worries, but I think BB will make the right decision. Letting TL24 go to KC was the right decision in the end, and letting Asante leave probably was also. I think Revis needs to stay though, to ensure max-use of Tommy's last few years.

Sorry, but can we change the thread title? Revis is certainly not "off topic", and the way it is labeled it appears as if the OP had come across inside information of some sort.

Got it, thanks for the suggestion.

Double off topic, I don't get why so many topics about the New England Patriots are labeled OT.

I know this always counts for nothing in contract negotiations, but maybe a taste of winning will help Revis desire to stay.

if BB projects that his speed and physical abilities will hold up, there is no way he lets him get away

his intelligence and skill are unquestioned.....

I don't have any doubt the Pats will have to back up the Brinks truck in order to keep him. Especially if he is a major contributor to a successful Super Bowl run. I highly doubt he takes any sort of discount to stay.

they will sign him before they sign mccourty

I think both stays.

Belichick pays for elite players while they are still elite (Brady, Seymour, Moss, Wilfork) . So unless someone offers Revis stupid money, the Pats will re-sign him.

I'm not as sold as mccourty

Revis is a must have........I think mccourty is good, but can be replaced

He can't reach FA in 2015 unless the Patriots decline the option. They have a few weeks after the season ends to reach a new deal.

I think BB made Seymour the highest paid player in the NFL at one point. Law, Moss, and Brady I think have been the highest or close to highest paid at their positions at times on the Patriots. BB is willing to pay top dollar, but only for top players. If he sees Revis as that, I think he pays.

if the pats redo Revis' contract during the 2014 season year, it accelerates 5M of bonus to the 2014 season cap.....not sure what it means, but I think they need some cap space to pull that off

Revis will know what he will get on the open market before that. He will know his market value by the Combine ends. Tampering happens all the time.

They better not let him get to FA. We havent had a player like this since Ty Law. Open up your wallets!! I think a 4 year deal, 14-16 mil annually with 45 mil in guaranteed money should do the trick!

You just don't play low ball with a guy of his talent. It's been done before and he has acted on it. We as fans have no idea. Make him the highest paid corner under something they can afford and works for the cap and be done with it.

This isn't like letting Asante Samuel leave. This would be a monumental mistake. He is one of the best CBs to ever play the game and the game plans are so much better with him in them.

I'd literally lose my **** with happiness if we get him at a 16 million per year with no guarantees like what tampa had. what a ****ing steal.

He will stay, and will be compensated according to his level as one of the best CBs in the game

Other teams will offer more, but he will stay bc he will accept getting paid his value rather than more than his value

Correct. At one point Sey, TB and Mankins were the highest paid at their respective positions
