When they signed him, my first reaction was UGH, been there done that. All my Eagle friends felt the same way as he did NOTHING during his Philly stint. Just Another Guy.At the start, he was in the mix but on a rotation basis only. right now? He's stepped up big time to where I'd never thought he'd be.
Here's to you Patrick Chung!

Patrick Chung appreciation thread!

they are using him differently this time around and he is have an excellent year

Don't know waht he did to himself over the summer but I love this upgraded version.

So long as the player doesn't get soft with age, the fact that the safety position is helped by experience and intelligence is important. Chung was drafted in 2009?? so this is season 6. That's a good combination of experience and youth, in spite of his limitations.

Pat Chung has basically given the Patriots what TJ Ward has given the Broncos for a fragment of the cost. I think he is a great story of a player who left but never bashed the organization or Belichick, I actually remember him doing an interview last season and the host trying to get him to bash Belichick and he wouldn't. That left the door open for a return and he has made the most of it. He had 10 tackles today and is closing in on 100 tackles for the season. That is outstanding production.

Bill Belichick was asked to evaluate Chung's turnaround today and offered an interesting response about the way it ended the first time and how it has come together in 2014.

“I thought he played pretty well for us in the time that he was here (from 2009-12),” Belichick said. “I think kind of the circumstances of the ’12 season just didn’t work out as well as probably we all hoped they would for a combination of reasons. Pat and I talked about that last year after he was released from Philadelphia. We had a long conversation about a lot of things. Not saying it was anybody’s fault, it was just one of those things that didn’t work out. But we both felt that we’d want to try to give it another shot. We were able to come to an agreement on that, contractually. I think he’s done a real good job for us.

"He’s filled a lot of different roles. He’s played well. He’s helped us in the kicking game. He has helped us defensively in a number of areas. He’s been active, been around the ball, been productive and he’s got experience. Even though he’s a new player, he was here for four years so it’s not –- in a way, he really has a lot of experience in our system. I think it’s worked out, worked out really well, at least on my end of it. I feel great about having him on the team and what he’s done for us.”

I want him to run a fake punt against the jets next week so badly.

I would have to agree he was a great pickup; seems decent/good in coverage and lays the odd solid hit. Also, hasn't called any failed fake punts since he came back, so that's a good thing.

Nice to see my old (and last) draft binkie coming around this year. Really cool to see.

And those tackles he makes aren't cheapies. He's had some nice open field tackles and a number of tackles at the LOS.

Chung has been coming in with the Boom stick all season and now you kind of wish they had signed him to a cheap two year deal. He may price himself out of NE

Sure he may be the weakest link of our secondary as far as the starters are concerned..

But when you put into measure how great our secondary is, that's not a bad thing. That's pretty damn good with how well Chung has played.

His skillset has been perfect for our nickle base. It's interesting to note that DMAC has been covering some of the TE's recently rather than Chung.

chung hurt his shoulder and he already was struggling with coverage (much better now).

What good's a guy who can't hit or cover? that's why he was cut IMO.
You didn't have many supporters for sure. I remember giving you shyt.

To be fair, i thought he'd get plenty of snaps, but as a platoon player. Didn't predict he'd have improved his coverage so much, but he has.
