Drew Bledsoe in Pats locker room

Bledsoe may very well have 2 SB rings if Parcells gave a fack about beating the Packers in the SB... :(

Bledsoe's coaching attributes:

He's tall. He's got a strong arm...

I remember the feature on Drew before the Chiefs game earlier in the year... maybe it's just me but when they were talking to Drew about Brady I detected a really tiny bit of envy there...

Or maybe envy isn't the right word but... definitely sounded like a little "something" there...

It's just bad luck for Drew. He has nothing to be ashamed about, but he had the bad luck to be followed in his career by the GOAT. Anyone would feel just a little bit envious after having that happen.

Bledsoe brought football excitement back to New England and when Tom went for 17 on 3rd and 11 and took the hit on the sideline it was a flashback and a hold your breathe moment I didn't need!

One of the prevailing urban legends is that Drew was gracious about losing his job and was supportive of Brady after it occurred. He wasn't, and I don't think I would have/could have been either. He was bitter and jealous, but given the situation I think most people would be. If/when Jimmy G. takes over for Brady, does anyone think Tom will be gracious and supportive of him?

If Brady leaves on his own terms ala Elway riding off after winning a Super Bowl, absolutely......

That's not the scenario I was referring to. I was referring to a situation just like Bledsoe's where Brady gets hurt, Jimmy G. takes over, is successful and Tom's out of a job here. Just to be clear, once Brady took over for Bledsoe, I didn't want Drew back starting.

Drew's personal pride took a hit losing his job to Brady and then getting traded. I think he's really over it but keeps a small chip on his shoulder half in jest.

No doubt about it (that Drew was bitter about the switch)

But I think he took one for the team. I believe he could have caused a real problem in that locker room if he wanted to... obviously I don't know for sure but I would be very surprised if there wasn't at least a couple of people in that locker room that weren't on board with the switch...

As for Brady... absolutely not. No reason to think he would be.

How dumb can you be? Clearly Hasan Graham was superior to that nobody Troy Brown.

Honey Boo Boo would be fun too.

Seriously, you want Mr. Throw-Off-The-Back-Foot to be giving QB advice to OUR personnel?

I love Drew - - great person and great talent.....but lousy fundamentals and on-field decision making.

It would be better if he joined Andre Tippett in Community Relations or something similar, but no, keep him away from our QB's please.

Not that I'm supporting some decision to bring Bledsoe onto the staff but I don't agree with these types of arguments.

Some of the best shooting coaches I've ever seen are some of the worst shots I've ever witnessed. Teaching and executing are entirely different creatures. A person could know how to do something down to the finest detail and yet not be able to perform those actions himself but still have the ability to properly relay and coach that information with the best of them.

Hell, most of the coaches in the NFL never sniffed the field yet they're still head coaches for a reason.

Still a silly thread.

We'll I remember Drew finally getting this team to be taken seriously, he helped change the culture in NE.

wait...Bledsoe was in the locker room? which one was he???

oh...now I see...he's the tall guy with the pigeon sh!t on his head....:D

Chris Simms already place him at the best QB because of his arm.

Drew could have been a lot worse than he was, and he wasn't bad enough to undermine much of anything except his own enjoyment of the championship run.

Yep. The essence of his coaching advice would be "Just sling it."

Bledsoe's BIGGEST mistake was talking the Pats ownership into giving multiple million dollar contracts to 4 and 6 (Rucci and Lane) which essentially made him a sitting duck for the rest of THEIR contracts. You older guys from the old NEPats dot com board know what I'm referring to by 4 and 6.

i dont get the negativity towards bledsoe in this thread. they dont get that first superbowl without him in the afc championship game in 01. i seem to remember a nice td pass to david patton in that game. its not easy coming off the bench cold in a afc championship game. and he threw for alot of yards and tds while he was a patriot. he and parcells put the pats on the map.

He did throw for tons of yards but when the good teams took away the deep ball he was deader than Daffy Duck in an Elmer Fudd shooting gallery. He never, and I will say it again,he never put any effort into learning touch in the short passing game. He literally could not throw a dump off pass to save his life. I saw him up close for many seasons at Bryant and Drew had a rocket for an arm. I mean it was staggering to witness up close. The problem he had as he got long in the tooth was he'd take so many hits to his ribs and shoulders that those rockets became bottle rockets late in the season.
