Patriots wanted to snatch QB David Fales from CHI PS

Say what you want about Jimmy, but BB wanted a trifecta of cheap California high school quarterbacks with Brady and Edelman already on-board. He nearly achieved this in 2009, but traded Matt Cassel to Kansas City a month before drafting Edelman that year.

If Mark Sanchez was still on the draft board in the late rounds, maybe he and Edelman would be taken over Brian Hoyer to complete the trifecta. But then, the Jets would be ruining another promising quarterback's career.

This week, we could have hit the trifecta! Oh well.

Let the trade Jimmy G for the 6th overall pick in next year's draft threads commence.

Interest in Fales doesn't necessarily mean Jimmy G is dinged up or having a problem. Many teams have 3 qbs on their depth chart.

The Pats may have just wanted to check out Fales. Perhaps to see if they could coach him up and roll him over for a profit in a year or two.

I've heard of flipping a car or house for a profit but, a qb???;)

A little OT and just curious.... has Edelman ever actually been seen taking snaps at QB for the pats? Ever since he was drafted I've always had the notion that he was defacto emergency QB (and of course all those trick plays that automatically became available yet never seen), but have since thought that maybe between the player he's become and the amount of time he has, that might not be the case.

I guess from all the reports saying he's the hardest worker, it wouldn't be out of the question.

Mixed Feelings...

01 ~ That sucks. I graded Fales very highly this Year.
02 ~ But I'm pretty jazzed that our own Patriots were sniffing around one'f my SuperBinkies!!

Sure, get him during the season off someone's practice squad, all it costs is a roster spot and the player's salary. Coach him up and show him off in the preseason. Maybe a year or two down the line someone offers us a draft pick for him. Profit. :)

Jimmy G has been awesome, but Fales was my #1 qb for us predraft. From what I have seen Jimmy is much better but I still wouldn't mind Fales as our #3.

I don't put a whole lot of stock in this rumour. It all comes from a single tweet, and nothing else has been said from any other "team" sources.

I could be easily convinced that the Bears made a mistake bringing this kid up from the practice squad, and started the rumour the Belichick wanted him as a means to cover up their own ineptitude.

Alternately, the Bears are thinking seriously (finally) that Cutler is NOT their best choice for QB now and into the future (despite his huge contract) and brought this kid up to the 53 to let him play a couple quarters, or maybe even entire games in order to see what he can do.

I mean, their season is pretty well tanked already, so why not let the kid play and see if he might be a better answer at the position for the future?

That's my take on it anyway.

Garapolo was way overdrafted. Waste of a 2nd round pick. Should have developed a late rounder or gotten someone off a practice squad. Wonder what OL they could have gotten in the 2nd.

For the record, the Chargers were supposedly interested too.

They need another QB for camp NeXT year and BB was probably staying a head as always. If they had Fales they not only could remove another "need", but also have 3 when playoff started, and he could learn abit before camp startet. Now they could end up with Tebow returning for camp instead :p;)

We've never done it, but Green Bay Under Favre supposedly flipped back-ups. Hasselbeck being the name I know, but supposedly their were many "our #3 becoming their #2" stories.

Yup, going 13-3, or so, and 4 years, or so, in the AFCC would have been soooooo much better if only Belichick wasn't such a jerk and returned your calls. :)

Yeah that's what I said. Strawman much? 13-3 means the pats couldn't have overdraftedhim. Logic is not your strong suit.

Dear idiot,

Yes, there was sooooo much room for improvement if only everyone were as much of a genius as you.

Strawman? You are a moron. That is ad hominem, since you don't like strawmen.:)

So let's say you are a genius and they drafted an offensive lineman. Would, in your genius opinion have two losses instead of 3?

Answer that or go away with your tail between your legs. (That's a metaphor that can be interpreted as another ad hominem.:) ) Or you can wuss out by saying you won't speculate.
