Really? Surprised revis would talk contract right now when he really hasn't all year. Either way if that's true then we are in business
Yes, Curran was on Comcast with Giardi when that was mentioned. Can't imagine Curran would say that if it weren't true and I agree with you. That bodes well for a possible long-term deal.

Either way..he is getting paid by the pats IMO. BB sees what he can do to lock down a team and knows he can be a better coach with him. SAme with Kraft

Spend the money on him, don't let him get to be a free agent and sign him now whatever the money. He is worth it.

He loves Brady and the Patriots but money speaks, sign him before the season ends, unless we don't make it to the SB. Then we need to reconsider him and others.

Under no circumstances do we need to "reconsider" Revis. He's a must resign, period.

I understand that a team has to have a price ceiling. That being said, I'd really rather not see this team go back into the 2008-2013 cycle in the defensive secondary. Keep Revis on a 4-5 year deal that gives him guarantees mostly in years 1-2. That lets Revis collect his money early on, and protects the team a bit in the case of an Asomugha-level collapse.

I don't think they sign him before the SB no matter how far they go. But they can't let him hit FA. If he does 50/50 chance he walks. Tie him up before FA is all i care about

You were kidding yourself about Revis' value to the Jets. He was a huge difference maker there, too. In 2006, the year before his arrival, the Jets went 4-12. Upon his arrival, and up to the season he popped his ACL, the Jets went

9-7
9-7
11-5
8-8

Once Revis went down, things changed

6-10
8-8
2-11

And Revis played 2 games in the 6-10 season, with the Jets going 2-0 in those games. Without Revis, the Jets went 4-10 in 2012.

He was certainly valuable to the Jets, I never denied that, I was questioning just HOW valuable, he is much more important to a team where he actually compliments the offense, you could actually make a very strange (and realistic) argument that putting the ball into the Jets offenses hands was actually detrimental to the team.

Why minimize his value just because he was on another team? The idea that his value was less on a team that got to the AFCCG twice despite having Mark Sanchez, and the rest of that offense, makes no sense.

Well, how many times do you really want to put the ball back in his hands? :D If I'm the 09 Jets I want my defense on the field as often as possible! Just like the 08 Bears wanted their punt and kick return units on the field more than offense and defense!

My real point is that football is complimentary.

The Jets lucked into the playoffs in both seasons and despite making the AFCCG they were not contenders.

An outstanding player is more valuable to a team that he compliments well, such as a team where he may be the missing piece to a title, he was never the missing piece in New York and could only become a missing piece if they find a franchise QB who has matured to the point to lead them to the title.

Revis isn't that guy for the Jets, he very well could be that guy, or one of those guys (a healthy Gronk is certainly near the top of that list too) for the Patriots'.

So I'm not diminishing his value, the Jets poor roster does that. He is more valuable to us than to a dysfunctional franchise (and yes, they were still dysfunctional even in their back to back AFCCG appearances).

Revis compliments our roster. He gives one of the NFLs most elite offenses led by one of the best QBs to ever play the game more offensive opportunities, he didn't do that with the Jets, he helped give the ball back to a team who would promptly place Revis back on the field.

He had an off season by his standards with Tampa last year too, despite being one of the best CBs in the NFL, he wasn't worth his contract to Tampa. They weren't wrong to cut him.

He was coming off of an ACL surgery. They were stupid to cut him.

In New York, he led that defense, and that defense got that team to the AFCCG twice, despite that offense.

And no matter how many times you make your argument, it's never going to be a good argument. Football is complementary. So what? Peyton, Brees, Rodgers, Roethlisberger, Brady... they wouldn't make the playoffs if he were on this year's Raiders. That doesn't mean they wouldn't be incredibly valuable to that team.
