Avocado is actually a fruit, not a veggie and it makes an awesome dessert. I use it with dark cocoa to make dark chocolate pudding, which is awesome and we also make avocado creme brûlée. My dad was utterly appalled by that until he actually ate it for Thanksgiving dessert. He cleaned his bowl. I don't know about ice cream but I would definitely try it.
Please post the recipe, or PM it to me.

Pfft, hit me on a technicality lady. I love avocado. It's kind of like bacon, if it's involved, it can't be bad. Personal favorite this summer was a tuna ceviche with a heavy hand of avocado...Mmmmm

The creme brulee sounds like an awesome idea as well, you mix that with a (light vanilla)vanilla custard base or just whip the avocado with some cream? Think I'm hosting Christmas dinner this year, that sounds like it could be a possibility (outside of I'd need to buy some dishes for it or make them in shot glasses with something else. But then there are no shot glasses for the bourbon...hmm).

Brady seems determined to force the Patriots to have to make a really tough decision in 2017.

[If Garoppolo continues to improve, we should all be braced for a really, really long season of media "coverage."]

If I remember correctly, Greg Bishop was on 98.5 earlier this year trashing Brady and the Pats. He went way overboard talking about how Brady is done. He used to be a Jets beat writer for the Times who used to go on the DA show before he left a lot and trash the Pats.

I might get slammed for this but here goes: reading the Gronk interview on ESPN this week, then this expose, I couldn't help but feel like a day with Gronk would be infinitely more enjoyable than one with Brady. With Brady you're up at the ass-crack of dawn, eating measured, super-heathly foods, taking cognitive tests and screwing around with resistance bands.

With Gronk you're doing pushups and situps watching SpongeBob, making 69 jokes and hitting on women.

I kid (mostly), but it's striking how different these two elite, generational athletes are wired, and given their positions and skillset I don't think it could be any more perfect: the analytical, tireless QB who looks for every little edge he can find, keeping his mind and body as sharp and conditioned as they can be. And the freak athlete TE who loves football, women, laughing, lifting and dancing and not much else. Such a beautiful combination of brains and brawn, and perhaps most importantly they're both insanely competitive.

I for one would LOVE to see Brady doing what he's doing a decade from now, both for the Patriots and for his own legacy. He's one of a kind.

Buried in that story is the implication that Brady used to do all the stuff Gronk is doing back when he was Gronk's age. The thing that will be interesting is to see if a guy like Gronk starts to emulate Brady in a few years... but it would probably take having a few kids and/or hetting married to get Gronk off the crazy train.

He certainly has the right mentor on his roster, with a facility just down the road at his disposal. For all his childish exuberance and airheadedness Gronk is reasonably intelligent in one important sense: the knee injury made him realize his time in the NFL is limited. As much as he loves the game I think he's willing to do whatever it takes to stay in the game a long time, seeing Brady's success in rehabbing his knee and shoulder and getting more proactive around injuries and aging, Gronk will follow suit even if it's not to the same dogged level. At least that's what I hope.

Anyway, sorry to derail. It'll be interesting to see how many of these new-age techniques catch on across the league, across other sports (if they haven't already). I know there's a lot of advanced training going on in baseball, hand-eye and eyesight and swing/pitch mechanics. I don't think they need the cognitive stuff as much--for batters it's more hand-eye, for pitchers they don't need split-second reactions. But it seems basketball and hockey players--especially hockey goalies--could benefit from the type of training Brady does.

Evidently, some folks have not read or seen the in-depth reports about how EXCEPTIONALLY strict Gronk is about his diet.

He is FAR more careful and strict about his diet and workout regiment than Brady ever was at his age. His dad, who is in the fitness business, is a Jack Lalane wannabe. As opposed to cute little chubby Tommy Brady, Gronk grew up chewing kale.

Don't let the persona fool you for a second.

I didn't mean to imply his diet and workout routine aren't top-notch, that couldn't be further from the truth. I'm talking more about the preventative stuff the article focuses on. And he very well may have worked cognitive exercises and preventative stuff into his training, I just haven't seen anything indicating he has.

I hear ya, but LOL, I'm not sure about the cognitive exercises with Gronk. :D

If ANYBODY needs cognitive work it's Gronk. Watching that Who's Line is it Anyway appearance was painful, you could practically see the dying mouse slowly spin the rusted wheel in his brain as he tried to come up with jokes on the spot. He could use a little information processing and selective attention work , and all joking aside I think it'd improve his ability to read defenses on the fly.

Or maybe he's just not that funny. Not everyone can come up with one liners at the drop of a hat.

John Elway won 2 rings with Denver when he was 37 and 38. I think Brady can keep playing at that level or above for another 3-4 years. With an actual complete team around him, I don't see any reason why the Pats can't compete very seriously over that period, and potentially come away with another couple of rings. And if that happens, the Manning comparisons will go away.

The Manning comparisons will never go away as many will remain convinced that Peyton is the best to ever play the game. Another Super Bowl or 2 to TB will change a a few minds but beyond that...

I agree, the decision whether to take a 7th for Garrapolo or just let him hitfree agency will be a tough one.

Really good article, sign me up for Brady still being great at 45. If he believes he can do it, I believe him

I read these 4 pages of Brady "man love" posts before I actually read the article...then I read the article. Being the eternal cynic and believing fluff pieces like this Brady article are written with an agenda in mind, I ask myself who, what, why.
Who benefits from this exposure besides the fandom that slurps this stuff up?.....Brady of course.
What is being accomplished?....A demonstration of commitment while attaching a long term vision of his future
Why? Contract negotiations are open for business. Maybe not in the boardroom yet....but I consider this the opening salvo designed to create a narrative..."Brady has plenty of great years ahead of him" ....and after reading the reactions here to this article, his PR people have done a hell of a job.
I just find it interesting that in a season when Brady's so called "replacement" gets drafted, in a season when a couple of shaky early season performances created apprehension about Brady's future, under a contract that is significantly below market......all of a sudden, one of the most private athletes on the planet has now decided to open up about....his swollen testicles and his one of a kind focus....and......how he can play "forever." Not exactly the humble Tom Brady we've opined about for 14 years.
Listen..........I'm a fan and I'll buy what TB is selling any day of the week......but.....this "look at me" article screams of ulterior motive....and I suspect it is contract driven. That being said...I love reading this kind of "inside the athlete' s world" fluff.
If I could produce my version of Patriots porn....I'd have a camera follow Brady on game day....from the minute he wakes until the lights go out at night. Or better yet....split screen with Brady also wearing a Go Pro camera. Get me a cigarette.

I agree with you. Those who believe Manning is better will believe that forever and those who believe Brady is better will always feel that way. These guys are both polarizing figures, most people love them or hate them. Very few are on the fence waiting to be convinced one way or the other.

Lmao Timmy Beiber! Too bad Favre is one hit away from thinking he's a popsicle. I'd love to see one more season ending interception in the playoffs from him. Classic memories.
