Youth is a benefit.Connolly is 32, Cannon is 26.
I agree for the most part. They are paying what they think Cannon is worth to the team. He has primarily played RT here but in his final year at TCU, has played LT- and well. It's probably an incentive-laden contract, which means he is in the $2.5mm range if he stays a backup and gets a bump if he starts. I'll agree with you that it demonstrates they feel he is starting caliber, but I don't think it says anything about their plans for Solder or Vollmer.
If asked what Patriots would be extended next, I would probably have said 10 other names before Cannon.
I would have had a Chris White extension ranked higher if I made a list.If asked what Patriots would be extended next, I would probably have said 10 other names before Cannon.
All I have heard is that Cannon received a $3.2 million signing bonus.Any details on the contract yet? I haven't been able to find anything.

Helping Miguel out here.Thanks. That's all I've been able to find, too. I would have thought details would have started to leak out by now.
BTW, I can't find Tim Wright listed on your cap breakdown for either 2014 or 2015.
Connolly has played much better - why not extend him?

I know we have been admonished not to related this to other impending free agents, but I think that's pretty relevant. The team will need some serious money to re-sign (or replace) Revis, McCourty, Gostkowski, Ridley, Vereen, Connolly. This absorbs a notable amount of that funding.
Depends on the bonus and guaranteed $.Would be lowball a 9 Mi dollar contract, for 3 years instead of 2?
