Howe: Patriots considering placing Easley on IR

Not a huge loss, easley was only seeing spot duty, and really with Ayers playing as good as he is it makes sense to shut the rookie down and let the people who are producing produce.
If it's true the timing is unfortunate because Donald Jones was producing when he was released a couple of weeks ago. Nobody on the PS likely to be as helpful, but perhaps another glimmer for the Jake Bequette fan club.

With Siliga and Jones back, it is probably time to end Easley's season, rather than risk further injury.

I'd rather have Walker on the inactive roster and let Easley rehab until camp.

How many first rounders that the Pats themselves drafted are actually healthy and currently starting for this D right now? Wilfork, McCourty... that's it, right?

To be fair, the Patriots have gotten more out of Easley this season than I was expecting. His loss will be felt most in January but I'll suffer that with a returning Jones and hopefully, 10 years worth of production.

Guys.... That's the Jets troll from the game threads, if I recall correctly.

Hightower has only a minor injury and Chandler is close. Collins wasn't a 1st round pick but was our top pick of the year.

After reading the article (which actually is pretty insightful regarding Easley), it seems sensible to shut him down. Apparently, he just wasn't able to fully rehab and at the same time prepare physically/mentally for the rigors of an NFL season. I thought he was having more of an impact than just 10 tackles and one sack thus far.

This could be interesting to watch. If he gets ir'ed I'd assume it is a) preventative and b) to make room for a linebacker for a week or two and to limit Hightower's reps.

We need Hightower ready to go for the postseason, any aggravation or further injury would be a huge blow to this defense.

Shoulders are one of those problem areas. If there was any true damage done, he (Hightower) could easily aggravate the injury, or further injure himself playing to soon. I suspect Jones sees limited action this week, maybe some second, and majority if third down reps. I would rather greatly limit (if not designated inactive outright) Hightower again this week if there is any risk with his shoulder. LB depth was an issue before mayo went down, we need him healthy for five weeks from now.

Yes a bust. Not his fault and it hurts me to say it. Dumb pick. Guys with major chronic injuries you take with low round picks or not at all. Hope he can come back not optimistic though.

::Waits for some chicken little to call him a bust so I can respond asking them does that mean Clowney is a bust too::
Yes clowney is a bust. Unless he has a miraculous recovery. Bust doesn't mean he's a bad person. Or didn't try. Not in his case or Easley ' .

Clowney sure looks like a bust to me. He was healthy from what I heard before his injury and he just didn't produce while healthy. I think the questions about his will to be great coming out of college might have been justified. It was passed off as he played to not get hurt before going to the NFL but maybe he just does not have the intensity needed.

As for Easley. Well he has looked good in spurts but the knees are questionable right now. I am not calling him a bust but anyone saying they are not concerned is either lying or delusion (not saying this is what YOU are saying... just in generally).

I hope Easley will get past this will more time to heal in the off season but am I sure? Nope. Am I even confident? Nope. Still I think he is worth the risk. We got a taste of his talent this year and it seems clear to me that if he is healthy he will be a difference maker.

Now though I think it will be interesting to watch the draft. If they trade up for a DT is it gonna for cause Wilfork is on the way out or cause they think Easley is?

Uh, are you saying Clowney is not going to be a bust?

Dude was an awful pick and is going to remembered as one of the biggest busts of all-time when it's all said and done. It already appears his first 2 years will be a complete waste. Then you're banking on a low work ethic guy who relies 100% on talent instead of hard work to make a comebcak from one of the worst injuries there is?

As for Easley, this isn't surprising at all. Did not like the pick when it was made and hate it even more now. Injury prone guy spends most of season injured and ends on IR. Shocking.
Your username gives me quite the pause before I take any of your opinions into consideration.

Hey! Leave him alone! He's free to voice his opinion, however idiotic and uninformed as it may be.

Hey. Shut up.

Come on guys don't be like that. No need for it. If he thinks Easley is a bust let him say it without giving him crap about it. Honestly maybe he will be right at the end of the day. No one knows right now. We can only guess and hope.
