What does Hoo-man bring to the table?

Believe it or not, in the salary cap era, you are going to have players on your 53 man roster who will not be Hall of Fame candidates. Hooman is Just A Guy. That's OK. Blocking tight end is a JAG type position.

I had no idea he played 41 snaps. Dont even notice him on the field this season

He is good at being the subject of threads on PatsFans.com. BB looks for that trait in his players.

Watch Wright blocking, and you'll understand.

Oh, I know. Wright makes Hernandez look like Orlando Pace when it comes to blocking. But, from what I've seen, Hooman hasn't been anything special in that department either.

We only notice Hooman is on the field when he misses a block hahaha.

Hooman provides experience in the system and the obvious ability to block well. Unfortunately, he hasn't had many opportunities to grab a pass every now and then to help keep the defense more honest.

I was fine with him staying here this season, although from looks of things some feel that his blocking his taken a step or two backwards. If that's the case, Belichick and company can evaluate the position in the offseason. It's certainly nice to have Wright on board as well, as an actual receiving option at the position. Too bad we can't have a combination of Hooman's blocking and Wright's receiving.

BB hates the media, so he wants to torment them with at least one nearly-unpronounceable name.

That's also why Hooman so often is in the actual starting lineup.

Anyone have a .gif of that Hooman catch vs. Miami last year?

These threads are amazing. If I had a nickle for every time some Pats fan (who probably dosent know that much about the game to begin with) asks why "so and so" is on the team. Apparently these geniuses think these players are a complete waste of a roster spot while the pats FO seems to think that these players are the solution at that position given the price and options available.

Given that the pats FO seems to know what they are doing, I am going to defer to them and hope that these people gain a little more perspective.

This is not a Pom Pom forum.
Most of us try to view the team objectively.

As good a coach as Belichick is (the best ever in my eyes), he has been known to make a questionable roster move from time to time.

Drafting Ron Brace in the second round proves he is not perfect.

That being said, what will you be saying if Hoo-man is not on this team in 2015?

Who is waving pom poms?

There are plenty of drafts busts for every team. What does that have to do with finding a better solution than Hoo? Sure Brace was a bust in retrospect but where are the better choices for Hoo from the "Experts" Or maybe BB just wants to have a lousy 3rd TE to spite BK? Not sure....

You are right Viewing the team objectively means to look at a roster and a salary cap. Not just calling out players who may not be up to uneducated standards.

Actually I wont give a **** if he is on the team, but what does that have to do with what was available at the beginning of the year, and available now as far as a better option?

By the way, Revis was not on the Bucks this year.

I like listening to analysts try and say his name and get it completely wrong..does that count?

In all seriousness, his catch a couple of weeks ago on the sidelines was really nice. He did an excellent job of going up over his head to haul in a throw, while still being aware of getting both feet in bounds. It was so good it actually surprised me a bit.

If Hooman is not on the starting roster next year, I will say that someone beat him out for a roster spot, and he was not one of the 53 most valuable players, in Belichick's opinion.

Many, many choices were available to Belichick in free agency and the draft. There is little evidence that Belichick felt any need for an upgrade. He was opportunistic when Wright was available, but Belichick continues to give Hooman lots and lots of reps, over all other options.

I suppose we can choose to believe that Hooman is getting so many reps because
1) Belichick is purposely playing a player with much better options available to
2) Belichick doesn't know that he has better options, or
3) Hooman is getting so many reps because he is the best option available.

We will speculate from for 8 months with regard to whether Hooman will be replaced on the 2015 roster.

I mean he is capable of occasionally pulling the rabbit out of the hat.

apparently he is an excellent practice player:

"Hoomanawanui was recognized as one of the team’s practice players of the week, an honor given to those the coaching staff feels best prepared the club in the days leading up a victory."

http://espn.go.com/blog/boston/new-england-patriots/

That was funny timing on Reiss' article. Theres a practice player of the week every week. I swear he must be on this forum.

I saw Gronk blow a blocking assignment. Obviously he sucks. Since BB is an idiot and I know all, cut him. So it is written so shall it be done.

Guess what? Those linemen for SD (I forget their names) beat actual linemen and I hear rumors they GET PAID.

[\sarcasm]

Gronk has more than three times as many touchdowns than Hooman has catches.

Gronk - 10 touchdowns
Hooman - 3 receptions

If Gronk misses a block "happens",
It proves he is not perfect, but still a incredible threat.

If Hooman misses blocks, then he has no value.

If you can't question the least productive offensive player on the team, than who can you question?

Have you read the other posts in this thread. I am not alone in my feelings about Hoo-man.

There are plenty of people on this board who do not agree. I remember last year people were divided when we got Blount. A lot of them thought that Bolden was better. I was on the Blount side of the fence, but that does not make the Bolden supporters uneducated.

There are a lot of people on the radio daily questioning Belichick because he is playing Blount instead of Gray.

I believe Blount has more talent & big play ability, but they as fans are entitled to their opinion.

Don't you agree ?

If Hooman misses blocks, then he has no value.

I see, so Hoo misses more blocks than all the other blocking TEs. I assuming you have this data and know where he is on the pecking order for you to be able to determine this.

Do all TE's who miss blocks not have value? Or do no other TEs miss blocks?

We are just trying to find out where you are coming from here.
