I hear what you are saying PFS74, and I too had initial reservations about this poster's schtick (and brought it up to the Administration Forum). However, the reaction from other posters has been so overwhelmingly positive and the tenor of Dikembe's posts seem to just be humor without bite.

Now all that being said, that is just my opinion from what I've seen - - if many others are truly hurt by this, I agree we should take it down.

Regarding people who are ESL, I can only reference Abdul7's post the other day to Dikembe:

Thanks for the reasonable response.

I've made my feelings clear. I don't find this guy's humor all that funny and I think reasonable people could find it offensive.

But I'm going to back off since apparently there are people out here whom I know from my experience of their postings to be reasonable who do not find it offensive.

If people find his stuff funny and not offensive, that's fine. As I said, Kim Kardashian gets great ratings. No one appointed me the arbiter of public taste. It is what it is.

As long as Dikembe keeps his brand of humor to his own threads, I'll just choose to ignore them. If he starts inserting what I and others find offensive into other threads, then we would have another matter on our hands.

But, for now, everything is cool as far as I'm concerned.

Count me as one who doesn't understand how this is offensive.

It helps if you read it with the voice of the cookie monster.

It was very funny. Loved the effort.

I'm waiting for the current Patsfans member to step forward and earn up to this. That was a radical post. Kudos.

Although I am chuckling at the schtick, if not more at the community reaction to it; I do have to wonder about what I thought used to be a rule about having an certain nbr of posts (50?) before you could start threads?

Actually that is not 100% of the comedic effort.

The use of ALL CAPS like someone new to this computer thing and the foreigner who knows nothing of the sport but insists on illuminating us with his opinion that Aaron Hernandez is a bad QB. To do that he needed a well known foreigner in an entertainment business that is not NFL related (quick, name one that is not a head of state or something.) The accent is just gravy.

I bought into the theme of the post that he was a non English speaker who has limited knowledge on football. So if he was trying to be funny about the list and about AH?? Then bravo....I did in fact miss the well formatted intended humor (quite possible it was an evening of brain cell killing on the rocks )

It almost seems some folks are acting like it is funnier than it is, as a quixotic jab at the PC army that lives in their imaginations. I'd give it a 2 on the funny scale. Not because I am offended, but because it isn't very funny. Hey Dikembe I think you need some writers to help you with your material. Great idea, execution needs a bit of work.

You really didn't offend me personally; I'm not that easily offended. But I work with and know people who would find the stuff you wrote hurtful and offensive, so I called it offensive.

But, I know when I'm beaten and I'm clearly in a small minority on this, so I'll back off; as I said in my post above, no one appointed me the arbiter of taste. Everything's cool as far as I'm concerned.

Heh heh. My response to your OP was also deleted, even in what I thought was a sanitized version. It made reference to a medical procedure similar to the one that you originally suggested, but in the context of re-adjusting the location of your head.

My view is that we all have to be ready to get as good as we give, so it was intended in good humor...as I am sure was the intent of your post.
