Saints benching Kenny Vaccaro

Because despite their lousiness, they are still in the playoff hunt.
Yes but they know at this point that even if they make it they are more than likely one and done. Its far off from their hopes of being a Superbowl contender

They're looking at new kickers too. It's a desperate team flailing about.

I never expected this train wreck from Payton. Added respect for what BB has done here even with his 2nd round/WR whiffs.

The defensive struggles are not atypical in year 2 of Rob Ryan defenses, where there is some history of adjustment issues. What should be worrying the Saints is not Vaccaro so much as Brees & Co.. The concerns should be focused on an offense that is just #9 in scoring, after being #10 last year, #3 two years ago, and #2 the year prior to that, and many of Brees' numbers show clear decline over the past few seasons*.

In 2011, the Saints scored 547 points
In 2012, the Saints scored 461 points
In 2013, the Saints scored 414 points
In 2014, the Saints have scored 333 points to date, putting them on pace for 410 points

*Note, as Patriots fans should certainly know, those numbers could be because of Brees, and they could be merely reflective of the offense in general. Closer study would be needed to figure out which it is, and it's irrelevant to my post, so I'm not putting in the time.

@RapSheet: More severe changes: The #Saints are benching talented 2013 1st rounder Kenny Vaccaro, who has earned several game balls. Incredible.

Wasn't this kid a stud as a rookie? One of the biggest sophomore slumps in awhile.

The 2013 draft class is not looking good. Look at the top 10 in particular. Collins is one of the few brightspots.

Jets hit it with Richardson, Dallas hit with Fredrick, Alonso with the Bills, Bell with the steelers, Lacy with the packers, that's about it...yeah a pretty bad draft class with no QB show any promises at all

Will pats take any look at Joe Morgan WR that the saints released? BB may have some working knowledge of the guy and he has been a successful DEEP threat? What do y'all think

The Saints' WRs suck. That's a big reason why their offense has dropped off so much. Yes, I know Ayers couldn't get on the field for a bad team, but I suspect Payton has a better handle on his players.

Right now, I'd be willing to give former Astros/RedLegs 2nd Baseman Joe Morgan a tryout.
