Am I the only one that prefers Gray to Blount?

I really want to see Blount and Gray splitting carries to maximize the running game. I'm not really worried about their freshness considering that Gray was on the PS and Blount wasn't getting many carries in Pittsburgh

I haven't seen enough of gray to say I like him more than blount. I have seen enough of blount to say I really like blount tho.

Gray did actually get a carry and looked fast and pretty good cutting up inside and hitting it hard. It was a night and day difference from Blount this Sunday. But yes that was only one carry. Gray is not going to carry 2 or 3 lineman like Blount and he's not going to hit a home run. He seems to offer more consistency, and in that one play against SD, you saw him do something that Blount didn't do all night. Follow his blocks and hit the hole hard.

Gray should start, Blount 2nd half

I agree with this. Why we would put Shane Vereen out there to run up the middle instead of Gray, I will never know. I understand that maybe his great game was a fluke and apparently they had an extra lineman in for most of the game, which could explain Gray's performance, but on the two carries he got last week he looked like he was getting positive yardage just the same as he did before. What's wrong with using Gray and Blount as a 1 (first half Gray) 2 (2nd half Blount) punch? The Vereen-up-the-middle experiment has jumped the shark. Earth to Josh and BB - Vereen is only good as a receiver or a receiving threat, not a straight forward running back.

Yep ,,,Gray to me looks faster and hits the hole faster,,,Blount seems to be the more patient and still pounds forward. Both can do a great 1-2 ,,,i say Gray more to begin with like others here and than in the 4th Q ,, pound the tiring defense with Blount. I want to see Gray on Sunday get 10-15 carries at least.
Gotta disagree. Gray hits the hole that he's supposed to hit at the time he's supposed to hit it. Blount seems to get to where he's supposed to be late sometimes and has to "dance" to compensate for it (not talking about last game).

Gray and Blount are both bruising backs. One is 230 and the other 250+. Both will wear down defenses when used properly. The problem is that the Pats haven't used them properly.

He showed up late for practice once. That was 3 weeks ago..

On this team a third stringer missing practice once, might be all it takes to not be a part of the team anymore. he picked the worst possible time to miss a practice(blount signed shortly after it happened)

I certainly hope there is more to the story that just that, because one week would be a proper iron first, three weeks is overdoing it.

Perhaps it is simply that a more punishing back fit better with what the offense was trying to accomplish against those particular matchups.

People are making a lot of assumptions with Gray based on a small sample size. Until Gray can prove consistency, I would go with Blount.

Why 'one or the other'?

In the immortal words of Gronk from the Nerd Nerdison interview, "Both burger!"

I'd like to see grey get the ball for at least a series to see if what he can do. the sample size is to small for me to say i'd rather him over blount. But even if he proves his big day wasn't a fluke theres no reason they can't share the duties and keep each other fresh.

I think I'm just fine with the experienced guy versus the one game wonder.

Whatever Ivan Fears and company see in practice every day is good enough for me.
Is it? Gray is in the BB doghouse not for what he did in practice. Fears I'm sure was involved in the decision but not the judge, jury and executor.

I'm happy with Blount but part of me wonders if BB needs to lighten up a little...

I think we need to rotate Blount and Gray way more frequently than we have in the past few games. We still need Blounts bruising carries on short yardage plays, but we need Gray's bursts on first down. I just don't get why we're still under utilizing Gray.

I like using them BOTH, and for the life of me, cannot understand BB's/McD's thinking on sinking Gray.

A DOUBLE BARREL shotgun.
I mentioned this before but no one took the bait. There are some stories out there that there's more to the Gray thing than just being late to practice. Something about going how with a woman from a bar, having his car towed, trying and failing to get a police escort to the stadium. Anyone heard anything else on this?
