Greg Bedard on 98.5 Listening (Unless the Sox sign Lester to steal the Pats' Thunder) Thread

Haha sorry about that, posting while watching NFL Network on mute and listening to F & M will do that to you.

Seemed like Bedard likes Gray and thinks he is a solid played, but some Pats fans think he is Corey Dillon reincarnated. Says he will help on stretch or edge runs

Bedard was speaking about Blount being overrated, not Gray

3 Up 3 Down

Revis: Holding Allen, one of the best to 3 yards. He was lock down.

Mazz didn't have Revis because SD never even looked at him. Mazz #1 is Collins

It was a stupid, poorly argued opinion that deserved ridicule. Reiss' current comments are consistent with the chat quote.

I agree with Reiss, but the swipe at Bedard comes off as immature to me, and ironically, very unlike Reiss.

Bedard's job is a lot harder than Reiss', to be quite frank, and he should probably refrain from taking shots at him.

That's all fine - I just think Reiss criticizing a fellow media member in this case makes him come off as insecure. Bedard's job is to perform analysis. If I had a dollar for every time Reiss told us "I'm not a scout", I'd be a rich man - he doesn't have to put his opinion on the line the way Bedard is demanded to. Their jobs & roles are different.
Sure .But putting an opinion on the line with no facts and making stuff up because he has to do it and go on a radio show is far fetched . What did that opinion gain him in terms of anything ? I like bedard but sometimes he does this. Its fine to have an opinion but its also ok to ridicule it as fans. 2 yrs he wrote how pats sold their soul to trade for talib or something like that.

Bedard 2nd star Akeem Ayers

Mazz 2nd JE

Bedard had Solder for 11 negative plays

Bedard 2nd dud is Hooman, citing his poor blocking. Why is he on the team then?

3rd Bedard was Collins

Mazz McCourty 3rd

I'm not sure Reiss is aware the opinion originated with Bedard. Last week he referred to the Boyer story as starting with "sports talk entertainers", which is euphemism for moron Felger and Mazz.

I disagree with bedard here. Hooman was not blocking.

I agree Bedard's comments on Boyer were stupid. And I think as posters on message boards, we can call it that. Just surprised to see a fellow media member Reiss - of all people - chime in with a burn, not his style, nor do I think it fits him.

Might be. He certainly has his run ins with the duo.

Good point. Thanks for the heads up.

Bedard: Solder was a #1 dud 11 negative plays.
Hooman #2 3 stuffed runs allowed. Doesn't know why SD held
Brady: Took points off board with INT. Ruined score before and after half. TB was average

Mazz
Solder
Brady: INT was awful. Average at best
LaFell 9 targets, 4 catches w/ costly fumble.
Honorable mention Tim Wright, on field for 1/2 of the snaps, zero catches

Is there a misquote there? He's not as good as people think, but even Bedard wants him to get more snaps? So who is overrating him? The fans who are asking for him to get more snaps? Is there a single Patriots fan that thinks Gray is a great RB?

I'm totally confused...

Thanks for posting, tamr. :)

Exactly! Which Pats fans is Bedard referring to? Just go to Patsfans.com if you want to know what Pats fans feel.

Bedard does this. Throws it against the wall to see what sticks. I guess if you're on talk radio, that's the game.

As for Gray, I sure would like to see him get a few series here and there as he runs very low and is not likely to suffer negative yardage.

Bedard has an account on patsfans.com. I would rather have him here for a chat than listen to these 2 bozos. So thanks for all the transcribing.

Surprised to see Brady on Bedard's list. I thought he was good outside the ridiculous INT. I guess that INT was so stupid it might get him on the list anyway.

very true. Reiss rarely states an opinion other than "don't get too high or too low. the truth always somewhere in the middle." He sounds like a parent trying to reconcile his kids fights.

I'll grant you that. I appreciate Bedard's effort, I just wish he would stick to facts. I wouldn't have had any problem at all if he said, "look at how Ryan's technique breaks down right here." Hell, even if he said, "I have to question why Ryan went to that technique right away. Was he coached to do it? Did he think there was help in that area?" I wouldn't have objected so strenuously. But to definitively state that Boyer was the problem one week after Bedard himself said it was NE's best defensive effort in some time is mind boggling.
