No injuries, hes fine. all of our well wishes worked, hes officially fully recovered.

So if you look at Twitter, Newton was either decapitated or the crash gave him super powers or anywhere in between. I hope the reports he is ok are true.

Glad to hear he is alright. I was almost in a car accident about an hour ago form some jackass who was in one lane and just decided he was going to push me into the next lane while he was going to take mine. Nearly side by side and no signaling or anything. Driving is so dangerous and people are just too careless with it.

It's on Global Associated News (whatever that is). I just read, however, that they're saying the part about the broken legs may be a hoax.

1) The broken legs thing is a hoax that's at least a year old.

People, for the most part, can't drive for **** as it is. You add in all of the distractions that people have at their fingertips in a car in today's world and you're taking your life into your own hands whenever you get behind the wheel. I scream at someone and give them the finger at least once a day on my commute into work.

Dude, calm the f*ck down. The story just broke. If anyone took the innocuous post to heart and ran with it, that's on them. There is always some misinformation and exaggeration whenever a story breaks. That's just the nature of breaking news. I didn't even post any strong convictions one way or another. Bro, I know. I was on the interstate doing 75 mph and saw the person in the car next to me texting at about the same rate of speed. Scary.

You are the one who needs to "calm the f*ck down". Shmessy's post did not attack you and there certainly wasn't any vitriol in it.

Instead of posting about the "broken legs" you could have taken a few minutes to check your facts. That is what I did before I even posted this thread. I looked at what Volin posted and went and did some digging to find the Charlotte Observer link.

Not just texting, but talking on the phone, playing with apps on the phone, streaming music out of the phone, playing with the radio, etc. When I'm driving, I set one station on Sirius and I don't change it unless the coast is absolutely clear. I don't bother with my phone until I'm parked and out of the car either.

I had an ex-GF that used to like to text with both hands while steering with her knee. It's amazing nothing bad ever happened. She would always react like I was the one with the problem whenever I would ask her to put both hands on the wheel. LOL I would rather fly somewhere any day of the week than drive, no matter the distance.

A few things. First off, I don't follow you around. You aren't worth that sort of energy. I started this thread, so if anyone followed anyone, you followed me. My girlfriend texts while driving all the time too. I can't seem to break her of the habit no matter how many times I ridicule and/or make fun of her. One time she was texting while I was asleep on a long road trip and I woke up because the car veered into the breakdown lane and she nearly had to overcorrect just to get back onto the road. Needless to say, I couldn't fall back to sleep after that.

All kidding aside, count your blessings. My cousin actually lost control of his Mazda 626 and should have probably perished based on the pics I saw afterward. My sister was in a similar situation on Thanksgiving day two years ago when she lost control of her Camry while texting. She tried to say it was because someone cut her off at first, but she later admitted she was texting.
