I was at the game, 30 rows right behind our bench. The crowd was awesome. It had to be 95% Pats fans in our section and the sections around us. There were a few scattered Chargers fans here and there, and they were doing their best to be heard, but it was a lot of Patriots love. A side note to seeing some Pats players pretty up close: Vince Wilfork is a wide, wide man.

My wife and I happened to be sitting right next to two elderly Charger fans that had those seats since 1984. The husband was a true fan, he even had a wireless headset for listening to the local broadcast. I'd like to imagine that he is the Pats Wicked Pissah of whatever the Chargers fan forum is. :D

For anybody at the game, were there a lot of fist fights?

Nope. I didn't see any altercations. Which was a surprise for that stadium, it's up in there with the Raiders in terms of "ghetto/gangsta" fans.

compliments to the Pats Fans @ SD

"elderly" ELDERLY!!! GFY!! :)

Not only was nothing mentioned on the NBC Broadcast, but the cameras studiously stayed away from crowd reaction shots during the game.

I've never seen that before.

Not to sound conspiratorial or anything, but I wonder if something came down from Madison Avenue to pointedly not make the San Diego franchise look bad on national television.

When it was obvious during the first drive that the stadium was packed with Pats fans, I actually half-expected them to keep fan shots to a minimum. SNF and MNF load up on fan shots during games (though MNF is sometimes over the top), but hardly any last night. That could have been a decision from higher up, and may well have been, given that neither Cris or Al mentioned it. Not that I fault them, but I don't think it's outlandish to suggest it at all.

Maybe no fist fights because there weren't a lot of super testosterone hockey player fans at the game?
It takes two super testosterone hockey players to fight .... Not only one and a bunch of laid back surfer dudes who dont even lnow how to skate.

I have it on good authority that Pissah is a jock-type.

Last night was my first nfl game (born and raised in california so there was no way I was missing this opportunity to see the pats with TB and BB still at the helm). Damn what a different experience it is actually being there. Before the game when Tom first came out on the field (with just Garropolo to start warming up IIRC) the crowd went crazy. Tom was pumped up by how many pats fans were there so he started going crazy and the crowd EXPLODED. Legendary.

BB is right about the college feel thing. Almost nothing but pats fans behind our bench.

Funny because Pats would get a call and i was watching thinking it had gone the Chargers way judging by the crowd reaction they were that loud.

This happened multiple times for me as well, truly an awesome display by Pats fans last night.

From the "DEFENSE!!!" chants to the "BRADY!!!" chants, why can't Gillette Stadium sound like that?

I said this recently on here, but at least for this year, Gillette been great. I have zero complaints with the crowd at Gillette.

It did feel like a college football bowl game. Which is what the SB should feel like, but its to corporate...

Such a great feeling to see the support for the team after all the flak BB, TB and the team as a whole had taken early on. I'm all warm and fuzzy inside.....Lets hope it motivates them even more going forward.

Yeah, you could hear them chanting. I'm surprised the announcers didn't comment on it.

Al Michaels lives in San Diego so he was going to downplay it as much as possible.

The initial scan of the crowd on the live broadcast said it all. 2 out of 3 people fans scanned were Pats fans and they scanned an entire section. it was awesome!!

I sat with 5 other Pats fans (I flew in from Texas and stayed with my MA family who flew in separately) on the Chargers side in row 19 at about the 50 yard line. One of the Pats fans had a sign and held it up during the game (blocking the view during the game), which caused an argument but that was as far as it got. There was really nothing else close to a fight that I saw.

Chargers fans really were nice people (in the tailgating before and during the game). Some healthy mocking, but nothing really bad.

On the Chargers side, right behind their bench, it looked to be about 50% Pats fans. I have no clue where the SD noise came from (other than the sound system) because the numbers didn't seem to be there.

Great weather, great win, great experience. Having never seen a Pats game on the road, it really could not have been better.

Going through this thread has me looking ahead and wondering what the Jets game in the Meadowlands will look like..........
