Or perhaps green beanie fans finding something to do after the Jests are eliminated from playoff contention in Week 5.a glut of yet to be discovered morons?
Rednecks. The same reason people watch Jerry Springer. Only slightly gayer because, with wrestling, you're watching two oiled up men in tights playing a choreographed game of grab ass.I dont disagree with your premise but how do you explain the attendance at pro wrwstling?
Shady stuff definitely went down under Stern but the CP3 trade was not one of them. He did NOT block that trade as the Commissioner, he blocked it as the acting owner of the Hornets. It was a crap trade and it was in their best interest to reject it. Lakers fans were(and still are) upset because they're used to highway robberies and expected it to go through. There is no sports league that's more obviously fixed than the NBA. It's more than just Donaghy, and the league often doesn't even try to hide it. Take a look at how the Commissioner plays games with the officiating crews. Take a look at Stern blocking the Chris Paul trade. Take look at how the Ewing draft went down.
Crooked is far too nice a word to use about the NBA.
Anybody that honestly dislikes this post can feel free to ignore me. I swear to God I won't get offended in the least.Rednecks. The same reason people watch Jerry Springer. With the Houston Rockets acting as middlemen, Demps landed for his league-owned franchise Lamar Odom, Luis Scola, Kevin Martin, Goran Dragic, and a 2012 first-round pick the Rockets had obtained from the Knicks, of all teams, for Tracy McGrady
The Clippers will send guard Eric Gordon, center Chris Kaman, forward Al-Farouq Aminu and Minnesota's unprotected 2012 first-round pick to the Hornets for Paul. The Clippers will also receive two future second-round picks.
There are a couple of games every year thst are fixed. If a city goes through some sort of tragedy or devastation, you better believe that their football team will be helped the nxt time they play.
The problem with the Donaghy episode wasn't just that he made bets on games that he officiated, he made money placing bets on other NBA games, knowing that some referees disliked certain players and certain teams. I have no problem believing that some NFL officials harbor similar biases. It's hard to explain the avalanche of horrific calls in the Steeler/Seahawk Super Bowl otherwise. Heck, long after his infamous "roughing the passer" call in the 1976 Raider/Patriots playoff game, the retired Ben Dreith was asked about the "tuck rule" call, and said the official made a mistake. Maybe he ran into Shaughnessy once, early in his life, and came away with a dislike of all things Boston. The WWE is a traveling carnival. Basketball has taken a big hit in popularity since Donaghy and since the 90's in particular. I'm personally still not convinced that there's a big cover-up by the NBA and believe, until something else surfaces, that Donaghy may have just been an isolated incident. That said, if something comes out that is substantial with regard to the fix being in there, I'll quit watching the NBA altogether as well.
I dunno, sounds to me like those conspiracy theorists who still "blame" the Pats winning in 2001 on post-9/11 patriotism. Since apparently all of the Jets fans in NYC who had just watched the WTC come down were just dying to see Belichick and the Pats hoist a Lombardi trophy.

If any proof of what you're saying ever comes out, that's the last day I watch an NFL game. Never understood how people can be so convinced that a league is fixed and yet keep watching week after week.
