Darrelle Revis

What you pay Revis is heavily dependent on Brady. Laying out a "No way!" position before you even know what kind of cap space there's going to be is a move that makes no sense.
Alright then. Let us all stop speculating. We do not know what kind of cap space there's going to be.

You are not very intelligent if you inferred that I believe that would get it done. Do I think it might get it done? Possibly but the chances are slim. We would be leaving other important players without contracts if we pay players what they want. Do you realize how many great players on this team need to be resigned? If you are ok with giving Revis 20m then I do not know what to tell you.
Who said anything about paying him 20 million? I believe 15 will be enough to get a deal done. Ayers, Branch and Casillas will not command a lot of money. They already have enough to resign McCourty even with the 25 million cap hit by Revis. Saying you would only pay Revis 13 million has to be one of the most asinine comments I've read today and I was in the game thread for Christ's sake.

Speculating is one thing. You've laid down lines of death, yet moved goalposts. That's a different thing.

16 mil AAV. That's what his TB contract was for. He wants a million bucks a game. The TB deal was 6/96 with nothing guarunteed. The 25 is a starting point of guaranteed money for a new contract. I feel confident we get something done.

Whatever it takes. He is the best cornerback since Ty Law and May even be better based on these cream puff rules in place. Not sure if Law would of been able to be as effective in today's game.

Of course we do.

#1) This board is all about speculating. We do it often.

#2) If you want an analysis of 2015 cap space, look at Miguel's blog.

I really really hope we can find some way to keep Revis and Mccourty.

If he insists on absolute top dollar, he won't be staying here.

If he doesn't insist on absolute top dollar, and does wind up staying here, that will be quite a poke in the eye to his former teams.

It must almost be boring for him.

You're joking, right?? Boring??

It takes 60 minute of frothing, lunatic Intensity to earn that kind of Respect.

He blinks once, and it's an 80 Yard TD and we're talking about how good Revis used to be.

Always knew the Revis was good, but until he became a Patriot no idea how good he really was..

Before the season started it was said that Revis makes the whole defense better, last night was a very clear display of that adage...

This team held the high flying Chargers to less than 200 yards passing in their house... that is freaking impressive. The Pats held them to 216 net yards for the game.. Passing yards were 59 net yards in the first half and 104 net yards in the second half...

Remember when we could not trust our defense??

I thought we were in real trouble when the Pats went 3 and out on the first series of the second half, but our defense stood tall the whole second half.. they kept stepping up.

They absolute need to pay Revis, I was even mad when they gave Slater that extension last week because I think they will need to do some savings in order to pay the big bucks to Revis AND other important FA like Dmac, Ayers and others.

I like Slater but the cost of opportunity here is pretty high.

You do understand that paying Revis a contract of $14M-$16M a year would result in a cap SAVINGS of $13M?

Slater is a pretty important part of the team, If you disagree just look at the plays he made last night on special teams, bringing guys down on punt returns for huge net punts giving the pats even better field position.

Revis playing out of this world. I've never seen a corner that can blanket any type of receiver the way he does and it doesn't matter if it's a physical player or a speed WR.

If you get a chance to watch him live and see him on every play, he's worth the admission.

PAY DA BEAST !!

They have to keep him. Cut Mayo if necessary, there is not much difference with or without him. Revis is a big difference maker

estimated 140million team cap for 2015. So, that might help.

Do you guys think winning a super bowl might be more incentive for Revis to take less money to stay?

Revis has demonstrated that money is his priority, he won't take a discount anywhere.

this caught my eye

he Pats, meanwhile, can clinch the AFC East with a home victory over the Dolphins, though they're obviously thinking about bigger and better things. However things play out, Belichick will have a decision to make about Revis after the season, when he'll be due a $12 million roster bonus; the smart move would be to try to work out a longer-term deal that softens the massive salary-cap hit while keeping him in the fold.

That would, at least in theory, give the brilliant corner the type of stability he has yet to enjoy in his highly compensated but fluid career.

"I wish it wasn't that way," Revis said, reflecting back upon his departure from the Jets. "I could've been locked up (in New York), and I could've gone back there (after being released by the Bucs), but New England accepted me with open arms, and I'm very, very comfortable here.
