Finally someone in the media is starting to ask if Manning is declining

It will be interesting to see exactly what type of QB Peyton Manning is right now, and later in the playoffs..

There is a definite downward trend in his play - his WR bail him out a hell of a lot with these wounded ducks, endless screens and crossers.

He nearly got Sanders killed again last night on a crosser where he didn't pick up the guy waiting to lay the wood sitting in zone. OF course, the flag came straight because a receiver took a big hit (as is the norm) and everyone moved on.

Another way to look at recent events; despite having a really strong running game, Manning has looked more fallible than ever! Shouldn't his numbers be increasing in terms of efficiency with teams having to account for the running game?

The Oakland and Miami games skew those numbers where he got 9 of the TDs and two INT and completion rates of 71% and 80%. He has gotten 5 TDs and 6 INTs combined in the other 4 games.

Manning has flashes of his old self, but he is uneven. He plays like crap in a lot of games too.

I would agree. He has played not-fantasy-football level in a few games lately but I'm not quite ready to say hes in rapid decline. In their last 3 games, CJ Anderson has had 80 carries and have faced three decent defenses. Manning might be having an issue with being in rhythm in the passing game.

Worst throws of his career are way overstated. He has made some bad throws the last two weeks, but that is because he faced teams that could pressure him.
Yeah well you name me one worse that the one in Indy before the half, in his career. the only one I can think of like that was the champ Bailey pick in Denver in 05 in the playoffs.
Last nights pick was inexcusable too. He had Amendola underneath all by himself on that play., not the first time either. I still cant figure what thats all about.
And if you want to be honest, Edleman saved his ass on the TD going up and a little behind to make a good snag that could have gotten him crushed if there was a defender heading toward him.
Now that I'm thinking about it Edleman would have caught that ball Welker dropped in the SB a few years ago.

I know I'm inherently a Brady's Lady apologist but my observations say that Brady's worst decisions & throws (but clearly not all) are a function of intense defensive pressure. We have to admit that defenses succeed in bringing tougher pressure against Brady than against Manning. That said it's obvious that Brady has made some bonehead decisions regardless of pressure.

Manning's decline is over rated here. He still throws a looping long ball with unequaled accuracy dropping the pass into a tiny moving target. Brady has never done this as well as Manning did and still does. Where Peyton is declining is on the shorter passes where straight line bullets are required. Brady was and is superior in this respect. Manning is still a Top 5 QB. He may well not be next year. Impossible to predict.

Michael Irvin during the broncos highlights and manning INTs last night -"Look man ,I am not going to say anything now, because everyone gets mad when someone says anything about peyton" lol

There has been bad throws over the years. I can't remember them all. But one bad throw here and there isn't really much of an indication of anything.

True that. I've never seen manning without great protection.
Friggin Nate Solder is a turnstyle.

You cant remember worse throws because there haven't been any. Thank you for making my point.
And there haven't been many bad throws like that over his career. And I'm sure there are some that I cant remember too.
My point was they do happen but they seem to happen with more frequency and on the road..

I have seen worse throws, but I just don't remember them. Hell, I didn't remember the throw in the Colts' game until you brought it up. I don't dwell on all of Brady's bad passes. I tend to forget them unless they are big difference makers in big games (like the safety in the Super Bowl and that one was three years ago).

I bet if charted all of Brady's bad passes over his career, most of them were on the road. I bet if you chart most QBs' bad passes, most of them are on the road. Teams in general play worse on the road than they do at home. Most of Brady's losses in his career have been on the road.

should call him wobbles.

Like I've always said... Look at who Brady targets downfield in the last 5 years: Edelman, Welker, Amendola, Vereen, Gronk.

4 of those guys are 5'10 or shorter. Gronk is usually hit on the seams..
When has Pinkhead ever had to throw a deep ball to a short WR?
Sanders? No. Either Thomas? No. Decker? No.

TB12s margin for error is so slim on deep balls because of his targets.

Look what happened when Brady had Moss...

Elway has quite the decision to make at the end of the season...he can cut Manning and have the money to keep the Thomas's, Knighton & Marshall or he can keep an old, noodle armed Manning for another year and lose a couple of big starters.

To me it's a no brainer, you take multiple talent over the aging QB but does Elway have the stones to do it?

Mannings arm strength has clearly been in decline for a few years but he is still a great QB and Denver's best chance for a ring, like Brady you ride him until he is clearly done, you don't get rid of him to save money. It won't matter who you bring in as a free agent if Osweiler is the QB.

This team does need a legit deep threat. SD crowded the middle of the field last night b/c they knew the Pats did not have the ability to burn them over the top.

julius thomas didn't play.........

I mean at some point age will catch up......

didn't see the game, so I don't know how bad his throws were...he didn't have to throw

Look my point is some of the worst throws in his whole career has come this year on the road. I'm wondering if that has to do with age, if this is a stress point a result of father time. An honest observation.
Some you guys act like woman who get bent out shape when their told they have a fat ass.

True> Mannings decline are much more obvious.

Ironic you should say this because it wasn't the women who post here that were shrieking like a little girl when they went 2-2, and they all know more about football and garner more respect here than you do. If the pink hat fits then you are the one who wears it.

Noodle arm or not, Manning is still a top 5 QB. The Broncos are better off with him
Not if he isn't good enough to win it all and they lose good young talent in the bargain.
