ProJo: Pats haven't proven themselves on the road

Don't worry. When NE wins, the storyline will remain the same because then SD will never have been any good to begin with.
This made me laugh. We're pathetic, aren't we??

Isn't Brady's away record over the past several years only around .500?

And we still have a game left this year at the meadowlands where Rex will pull out all the stops.

I think the Jets have no heart right now. Rex looks like a shattered man and they seem to be giving up (which is a good sign for the Pats next week since even with the Jets not even trying to pass the ball, the Dolphins could barely beat them).

Well, as long as such articles are being read by BB and the players and give them a small motivation to prove the NE papers wrong again, I am all for it!

Jim Donaldson/Bill Reynolds are two of the worse sports writers in this area of the country..

Both go with the wind and are incapable of an original thought.. unfortunately I still subscribe to the ProJo..

Classic case today in the Pro Jo about a kid named John Toppa the qb of Hendricken, not one mention of who his grandfather was. John Toppa Sr. , probably the best high school football coach that RI has ever seen.. John Sr. woudld be very proud.

I think Rex will go all out to try to beat the Pats for one last time, hell, he might even send a voicemail to all the season ticket holders to pump them up, lol... :)

Although I want the Pats to have HFA, this is a bit misleading because two of the Pats' road losses were when they were still trying to find themselves. I think the Pats of the last 8 weeks would have gone into Miami and KC and beat them. And Green Bay is arguably better than any team they will face in the AFC in the playoffs and the Pats were potentially one dropped Gronk TD pass from winning that game.

I still want the AFC champ game to be at Gillette...if we have to go to DEnver again...i will be much more worried

Barring injuries, I still like the Pats' chances in Denver. Not as much as Foxboro, but I think the Pats are a better team. By a decent amount.

They're better at home than on the road, same as everybody else. Article doesn't say much else. Much ado about nothing.

Since 2009, it's not that far off, at 27–19 (.586), compared to his home record of 43–3.

For the record, here are all the teams with better road records over the same span:

*crickets*

[Only four teams—the Pats, Eagles, Packers, and somehow the Saints—are even five games above .500 in that time span.]

I agree with you on both points. I am very worried about Sunday's game because it is on the road. No
sweat if it was at home. Two losses in a row and momentum could build for a loss to the Dolphins
or Jets.

Forget the "on the road" issue.

The last 5 Patriots' game on NATURAL GRASS:

Miami
Denver
Miami
Kansas City
Green Bay.

Those are their last 5 losses. They're on grass today in San Diego, too. And the SB is on grass in Arizona.

Most overrated talking point right now. Other than KC, I didn't see any problems with the Pats' players and the turf. And even with their issues on grass in the KC game, the grass field was a minor reason why they lost at best.

We'll just have to see tonight whether they are ready to play smash mouth football or finesse. By the end of the year we could just as easily be 11-5 as 13-3

The Buffalo (7-5) and Indy (8-4) wins were road games.

Blah, blah, blah.

They were road wins before the pressure for HFA and the playoffs. Their success in December is not an automatic.

Success in the NFL is never automatic, for any month. The article was about the Pats on the road. They have won two against teams with winning records, which went unmentioned in the article. I assume that it didn't fit the narrative.

Denver, Arizona, GB, Seattle all have the same road record.

This year's New England Patriots are not a finesse team by a long shot. If you or anyone else wants to ascribe the finesse tag to past teams have at it. Not this one. Not remotely close.

I agree that the article should've pointed out the averages of other teams, and included the all-important fact that we're on par with other good squads.

That said, it also doesn't change the fact that they probably haven't proven themselves on the road yet in the months where it matters, so even though I disagree with them for leaving out key points and showing a bias, they are still correct on some level--like it or not. Hopefully, they come out tonight and get the victory, which will shut some of the doubters up, at least momentarily.
