At least he ran more then one route before breaking himself, again.

That's true..... because those 170 yards and zero TDs right now mean more than any future contribution that Dobson might bring to the table.

Can we start a petition to get the #17 taken out of useage?

Well, on the bright side, this continues the ongoing trend of wide receiver draft busts in the BB era.
But at least we continue to hold out hope for Boyce on the practice squad. Because you just know he's got a shot to make it big on this team in a year's time. :)

Because Thompkins 170 yards and no TD's right now mean more then THOMPKINS future production as well?

You can't just pick and choose what criteria works for you and what doesn't man,

Thompkins was traded in season to one of the worst teams in history, Sorry hes not blowing up the stats sheet while Dobson sits in the doctors office.

The simple fact is if thompkins was here, he could play, Dobson can't his season is over. Dobson should have gone to IR at the start of the season and Thompkins shouldn't have been cut.

Lol how about we mass-tweet him to change his number because of the bad luck/players associated with it?

Very disappointed. I still think if healthy next year, he should be able to contribute.

This should bring the remaining milk carton kids out of hiding, those who don't reappear should be pronounced legally dead by Monday.

Couldn't we have fetched ourselves a pretty solid WR with a 2nd round pick via trade? Sucks that it seems to be wasted...

I'm convinced signing FA/trading for already established WRs is the only thing we should be doing at that position

KT was not traded. He was cut and most likely would have been back on the practice squad had he cleared waivers. I beleive BB said this right after... Team just needed space on the 53 and he was the least likely contributor at that point given depth

Still have Brian (All-World) Tyms.

The Pats should talk with an NFC team that's good at picking WR's.They let us know who to draft at WR and we let them know who draft for any other position. :)

20/20 hindsight being what it is I'm sure the team would have kept Thompkins and put Dobson on IR had they known then what they know now. Oh well.

BB needs Mr Peabody's Wayback Machine

What a disappointing season. He'll be fighting for a roster spot next summer.
Amendola's spot should be open the day after the SB

Patsfans, where getting put on IR = bust. What happened to give draft picks 3 years?

You could quite easily put Dobson's season squarely on the shoulders of Dr Gill who gave him the OK to play on a broken foot, which in turn made it worse and ended up needing screwing back together. This put his pre-season all out of rhythm which put him behind everyone then as soon as he's fully back (he got a black jersey leading into the Packers game) he does his hammy in, great!

A hamstring injury after not playing in a long time happens to a lot of players (Revis comes to mind, as one).

I'll wait and see how he does in TC etc. As for Thompkins? Give over, the guy has shown that ever since the Saints game last year he can't play - double clutches passes and struggles to get open, there's a reason he was cut.

Well, time for Tyms to step up. Although seeing as he hasn't caught anything since that TD I'm not optimistic. With Edelman gimpy we will need the WR3 to step up and step up soon.

We are screwed if Gronk gets injured. We are screwed if Edelman and Lafell get injured. The dropoff is massive at the starting WR spots.

Also, BB, please don't try to get a WR in this draft. Find the next Lafell (Crabtree?).

TO BE FAIR

Branch rookie season: 43/489/2
Dobson: 34/519/4

Dobson had the best rookie season for a WR in franchise history (edit: I've been corrected. Not best in franchise history, but best in Brady/Belichick era)

His foot surgery and how they handled it; holding him out of training camp and extending into the season was a big deal. The hamstring could've easily been due to favouring one foot/leg over the other. I'm confident he'll make the team next year assuming he doesn't get hurt again.

First off, Thompkins wasn't "traded"....he was waived. That should tell you something right there.

And if by "play" for the Patriots you mean sit home every Sunday as an inactive, then sure he'd play.

Also, you have no idea what the doctors were saying in regards to Dobson and they could have been telling BB that Dobson had a reasonable chance to play this season.

Dobson's ceiling is much higher than Thompkins....anyone can see that by last year's play.
