I expect the Patriots to lose to San Diego and have a tough time beating both the Dolphins and the Jets.
Don't worry yet about a Superbowl win. The Patriots may be playing for a Playoff spot against the Bills.
Best possible record 11-5?
SD game worries just because I worry about every opponent . Thats just me. But they are a weird team and rivers usually leaves it all out on the field and they have some very talented receivers. This game is huge. As I mentioned last week, its such a week to week thing . One week ago, packers game was a probable loss among some and expected but now after the loss our HFA road becomes tougher. Who knows what next week will look like.

I'd be more worried about SD if NE had beaten Green Bay.

No. That's a lie. If NE had beaten Green Bay I'd still have a ****-eating grin on my face, with visions of SB championships dancing in my head.

But it certainly sounds reasonable, doesn't it? NE didn't need to beat Green Bay, but a loss to SD would potentially knock them all the way back to the #3 seed. Any chance of NE overlooking the Chargers is now up in smoke, not just due to the loss and the need but because I can't help feeling like the coaches misfired on some of their evaluation of the Packers.

I dont think they will have overlooked the chargers in any case. Its just a tougher spot for them now , back to back road games vs a team which has good playmakers fighting for a playoff spot.
Pats coaches, went over aggressive in the first few drives to go up tempo and take the lead and all that and it backfired. And they need to sort out their short yardage plays. Sometimes its best to run with your big back. Those missed 3rd and 1 and 3 pass plays in the 2nd drive put them behind the 8 ball.

The Miami game is a real sleeper tough game. They're playing well and we're coming off back to back road games with a late Sunday game and long flight back. Seems like it will be 8 am Monday Morning eastern when they get back.

I've been mildly fretting over that one more than the rest. Well put. I don't *expect* a loss, but if there had to be one more besides SD...

Just BTW, since we last won the Super Bowl, how many AFC teams with HFA advantage throughout have won the Super Bowl?

None. A few have made it to the dance (NE in 2011, Denver in 2013, NE in 2007, Indy in 2009), but none have taken home the prize.

Four in ten years getting through is pretty good odds, though.

I believe the Pats will need to win out in order to secure the #1 seed. If they don't win out then they don't deserve to be the #1 seed.

Pretty much my exact feelings. I think they will win out. I don't think they have any business dropping another game. They are better than every team left on the schedule by a pretty big margin and there is alot at stake. If the patriots are legit like I think they are, they won't lose another regular season game.

You should look at how many teams reached the SB. Not how many teams won the SB. Since you don't have home field advantage in the SB.

For who? The fans?

Because I'm sure that it won't be for the team given that Miami is on a 2 game winning streak against us.

2 game winning streak is in their house....they aren't as good on the road, especially in Gillette.....

What makes you think that? Do you have visions of Denver doing that also? If not, then it would seem that you think Denver's better than NE. Case closed, it would seem.

No...As Yogi once said " It's Deja Vu all over again" ...

Ok but that's not the point. The point is that having lost their last two games against the Dolphins, regardless of venue, we aren't going to have to worry about our team taking them lightly.

I 'm having a tough time believing this Patriots team will lose two straight. If they did that could mean they peaked too early (or worse - they're frauds). While their third down defense against the Pack surprised me (and brought me back to the terrible days of the pats mediocre defense of the past several - seems like 10?- years), I'm hopeful that this defense is legitimate. Make no mistake about it, as this defense goes, so go the Patriots.

Not sure BB let's his team take any game lightly ;)

honestly...i don't think any

1 down, 1 to go. 3 game lead on the division with 3 to go and Miami up next. A Pats win clinches the division, and puts HFA squarely in our sights.

Neither one of those games is a lead pipe cinch. If the Patriots give the quarterback 10 seconds to find his
receivers, they will lose both games.

Sure, provided also that the Patriots: do not score regularly, and Browner-Revis-Arrington play significantly worse than they have been.
A team needs only to stop one third down on a given drive, just one. They can give up plays but just need one third down stop. It's all about the percentages........and I like the Patriots percentages given their Defense (despite their lack of potency in Pass Rush).

Btw, Mr Discount Doublecheck had that 11 second pocket time on one play. What was the result of that play? Surely, he must have scored a long gain or TD.

Bump.

2-0. 0 2nd half points allowed. AFC East champs, again.

1 more win guarantees a bye, and the 5th season in a row with 12+ wins.
