Can Someone explain to me?

NE has to win out, I dont see Denver losing another game. Denver looked very balanced against KC. We all know they are a good team so saying that NE will win out and saying Denver will drop a game is crazy, I think they both have equal chances to win out. The SD game I think for NE will be a win and convincingly but then again SD is fighting for their playoff life so who knows, the Denver/SD game might be more important to them if NE wins this week. Funny thing about all of this is that Cincy could take the 2nd seed.

It's very unlikely. For Cincy to take the second, they'd need to win out (including a win over Denver) and NE wins out. If Cincy wins out and NE drops one, then Cincy would actually be the top seed. If Cincy loses a single game - even if that game isn't to Denver - then they would need Denver or NE to go 2-2 from here on out to edge either of them.

Had they beaten Carolina, it would be a lot easier, but that tie - and the fact that Cincy still has to play Denver - really hurts their chances.

I am not back on the Denver bandwagon yet. They played like crap against STL, could have easily lost to the Dolphins at home and played against a KC team that has been on a decline for some time now. Lets see how they do against SD and CIN.

But you bring up a great point. Their game @CIN could very well be for the #2 seed. And one would think that at some point Dalton/Marvin Lewis are ought to have a good game in prime time.

They were competitive at Lambeau. Could easily have won the game. Will likely have an improved pass rush come playoff time. Had they been crushed, that's one thing, but I don't see any real reason for pessimism about the Patriots right now...

I just try to focus on that which I can control, and in this case that is just the Patriots winning out. I have no control over the Broncos.

Well, if the Pats get the #2 seed and Cincy gets the #1 seed, the Pats would still get HFA throughout the playoffs because you know that Cincy will be one and done in the playoffs no matter where they are seeded.

Eh? I don't follow. If Cinci wins out and NE wins out, NE has 13 wins to Cinci's 12. If NE drops a game so that they both have 12, NE has the head to head.

12-4 is a lower winning percentage than 12-3-1.

Thanks, Brother Joe!! I was flat out from May Day through Halloween at my job, and took November to just kick back, relax, and recharge...Lots of Work to do!! :D
You need to get back to making threads about the future dominance of the Patriots, we have lacked the mad scientist-esque analyst around here for quite a while. Then again, you may've been pelted with rotten tomatoes had you given an optimistic insight after the KC debacle. ;)

LOL

You know.. statistically it has to happen at some point :)

Nothing would be more Bengals like than finally winning a prime time game, getting the second seed and then once again failing in the playoffs..

I think the last time dalton played on primetime, he had a passer rating of 2.0 . So yes..he can do better next time statistically.

Yeh that tie is killer, so if Denver and NE both end up 12-4 and Cincy 12-3-1, Cincy is the 1st seed. NE 13-3, Denver 12-4, Cincy 12-3-1, Cincy is 2nd...I hate ties. Of course that mean Cincy wins out and I don't see that happening, but....that's why they play.

Technically, aren't both "winning" percentages the same - 75%? It would seem that "losing" percentage, namely the lower of the 2, would be decisive - 3 of 16 (19%) vs. 4 of 16 (25%)

Patriots nearly beat the hottest offense in football at Lambeau, one of the toughest HFA. One near-catch away from taking the lead/winning.

People love to be the first to guess the team is falling apart, so they can say I told you so (Felger & Mazz)

Also, the Patriots have a lot more they can show in the rematch in Glendale (Yes I'm calling it)
More zone blitzes, especially so ARodg can't take advantage of man coverage of Ryan/Dennard/Arrington

I think it's worse because had we just executed better, we would have won
