Too bad Pats vaunted pass D didn't show up.....

What happened to their BLITZ pkg...did Patricia rip it out of their book????

The pass defense showed up in the second half. The Packers only scored three points after the break. As far as the pass rush is concerned, the Packers OL and running backs did a good job picking up the Patriots' stunts and overloads.

Blitzing Aaron Rodgers is dangersous business with his pocket awareness and ability to move around and run for first downs. Overall, I thought the Patriots did a pretty good job except for that Packers TD at the end of the first half.

That particular play was a killer. Losing concentration just before the half that permitted Jordy Nelson to catch that pass in stride with no help in the middle. McCourty should have been there for the tackle. It was a well-designed play to rub Revis off Nelson down the field, but it should have been defensed by McCourty who usually is in better position to provide help.

The defense just gave up to many big plays for the pats offense to overcome.
They gave up 26 fricken points. Are you saying the Pats offense can't score 26 points?

Agreed except the offence never had the ball . Bend but don't break kept our offence off the field all day
Half of the O's drives being 5 plays or less was a major factor.

Belichick tried to steal a game without showing GB to much assuming this is a very possible SB match up. I got no problem with this loss as the rest of the schedule is pretty fair and we will beat GB when it matters most. Reminiscent of 07 when we beat the Giants at seasons end only to lose in the bowl.
That is an interesting perspective. I would love to see BB answer that, and things like that, in a book after he retires.

As a community, it might be worthwhile for us to put together a list of questions like this if he were to ever write a book. If we did it right it could prove a valuable tool for BB and any co-authors to write such a book.

It's gonna be a whole lot different when we rematch in February.

I don't think GB will make it to the Super Bowl they will be knocked off by say Seattle.

One thing for sure about our current coordinators, when games get tight, they revert back to their tendencies:
  • Patricia will start calling a conservative defense
  • McD will eschew a balanced attack and go "EA Madden"
If we do meet GB in the SB, I expect these tendencies to show again. Hell, we'll see these tendencies in the playoffs when we meet a team who can go toe to toe with us. Difference this year is that we have the players that still give us a chance to win tight games despite our coordinators mind cramps.

It's more of what history has shown me rather than just blind speculation. Who would've guessed NY would meet us in the bowl? So we played them and it just gave them a good gauge of what we tend to do and they were obviously prepared in the SB game, that's just a thought that comes to my mind.

I don't buy this theory that BB tried to steal a win without showing all the blueprint. This has a lot of implications related to seed to put on risk like that, also, they were the most difficult opponent to face on a possible SB before the game, so another loss would make their path a little more difficult.

In terms of confidence, if we face GB again in the SB I would give the mental edge to them, because they won us once this year, what will prevent them to do it again? We have a good team but filled with rookies and younger players that do not seem to be as mentally strong as the veterans from the dynasty. There is a good possibility that some players will crap their pants. I think the teams from 2010/2011 were better suited to win on the road even with those secondaries, I feel the opposite regarding this team and last season's.

I have difficulty buying into th theory as well, you play to win today. That's it. Let the future be the future. I don't even think the Packers will be in the Super Bowl.

Agree about the holding back part. As I said in another thread, the only wrinkles we held back were those that are based on unavailable players. That being said, I think that GB showed their hand a bit and we will be better prepared to answer their stuff next time (e.g. Cobb as lined up as halfback to avoid jams).

I wouldn't give the mental edge to GB though. They were not able to finish their drives in the end zone. This should be something our defense should be proud of.

Depends on where the game is played. Whoever has the HFA wins the game.

Good post and I agree. If Green bay holds home field (I think they will), they're in good shape. I'd worry about Seattle a bit, as they're starting to play much better all of a sudden (the same way I feel about Denver - NE needs to hols home field!). The 9'ers - meh.

And the Eagles can always be tough, because Sanchez can suck or he can be lights out - schizophrenic team.

If the two teams out there yesterday meet in the SB, it's going to be a GREAT game. And that kid Rodgers? He's pretty good.
But look at what happened last time Philly came to Green Bay this year. I have no confidence in Philly going to Green Bay and being competitive let alone beat them. On the road maybe it'd be different..

What if Green Bay gets home field?

Seattle is an awfully tough matchup for GB, wherever the game is played. For all their home dominance, GB has lost two home playoff games in recent memory.

Surprised with D from GB.
i agree i thought they're defense was suposse to be good but not That good. Maybe BB and JM outsmarted themselves, by trying to pass instead of run, figuring that GB would be looking for the pats to do just that...run

Yep. They've only beaten Minny with a wide out at QB since winning the SB 3 years ago. #1 seeds rarely meet in the SB. So if we're there, GB likely isn't. I fee like GB's d has a good chance of ****ting the bed like ours did in 2010,2012, and 2013 in the playoffs.

2013 in the playoffs

In fairness, the D did about the best you could reasonably expect in that game, particularly in light of how much time they spent on the field. If that was a bed ****ting, it was more like a shart when you have diarrhea; unpleasant, but not entirely unexpected.

Not if the game is played in Lambeau.
