Curran:Patriots left peeved and proud after loss

Maybe this will have the same effect as the KC loss and makes the Pats play angry into the playoffs. One fear if the Pats continued to blow out opponents every week is complacency. This loss may be the medicine the Pats need to avoid this knowing they can still be smacked in the mouth if they are not playing a good game (or even if they do play well).

I wish you were right. Generally speaking, people create false narratives to help substantiate a claim that they wish to be true. I am a borderline Pats homer and was expecting the Pats to dominate the trenches. I was very wrong in that expectation.

This site has trouble handling defeat. I might say the lines got outplayed. Not dominated. DL did good vs the run after the first drive. Just not enough pass rush. Opposite for them. Thought we ran well. But, they got more pressure than they should.

As for dropped passes, if Gronkowski doesn't drop that pass the Pats likely win the game. He admits he should have caught it. Both teams dropped passes.

I don't think we win if he catches it. That would have left 3+ minutes for AR.

I still don't understand why we weren't playing for the last possession. 4 down territory, run the ball 3 yards a clip and punch it in with Blount. Leave Rodgers with less than 2 minutes.

Agreed. Everything short was money. I was upset at the decision to throw long there, even though Gronk almost pulled it in. 4 down territory, just keep getting 3-5 a play as you had the whole drive.

No shame in being a homer, but the latter part of this might explain your position on last night's game. When you expect to dominate a draw or marginal loss will look worse than it really was.

Totally agreed. The Pack was giving 5 free yards on every down and NE could have easily punched it in with 90 seconds or so left. (Maybe not "easily", but it was still functionally a lot easier) So why go for broke right there? Made no sense whatsoever. Nor did the FG try, which still would have required a 3 and out that was terribly unlikely, certainly less likely than a 4th and 18 conversion. And even if the 4th down was slightly less likely, the odds of winning are higher because you are in position to score a go-ahead TD whereas a stop on D still requires driving down the field with no TOs.

Really bizarre time management there.

Lord, have mercy on San Diego !

Basically agree. I did say "likely win," not definitely win. AR would have needed to take them down for a FG in those three minutes, something he'd only managed to do once the entire second half.

Good news, Good news indeed, i expect him to take out on sd, the jest, miami, and the bills. i expect to run the table. because thats what happens when TB, BB, and the rest of the team get pissed
Being pissed might make their practices a little more intense this week and might have them fired up on the opening drive, but they'll run the table because (a) they have to and (b) they're better than those four teams.

Unfortunately, that isn't the case. After watching some early, blatant holds by GB's OL that weren't called, I focused much of my attention on the plays of both lines. Although Branch held his ground, it looks like his conditioning may be limiting his snaps. It was shocking seeing Wilfork get pushed around (granted it was often by double teams) on so many plays. Seeing Chris Jones get pushed around wasn't nearly so shocking.
NE's OL was significantly worse than the DL.

Bedard's commentary on the Felger and Toady show will confirm what I am telling you.

Rodgers would only have need a FG to win if NE failed in the 2 pt conversion....

I've come to think very little of Bedard's analysis

It is when we realize that we are wrong is that we grow the most.

you're right on the facts there and I corrected my post. still disagree with your earlier posts though.

Either I'm missing something, or this is a seriously eye-roll worthy comment.

you're right on the facts there and have edited my original post. I should have written that he'd only managed one FG the entire half so I like the Pats chances of stopping him. still disagree with your earlier posts though.
When Bedard confirms what I have been saying, will you reconsider your position?
