The Patriots vs Packers POST Game Thread

I think there is a lot to digest from this game.

It wasn't the Pats best performance, but it wasn't their complete worst. They didn't bring it today and still were within one score of the NFL's elite (us, GB, SEA and DEN) and could've won too.

Defense didn't blitz enough. You cant sit back and bring 3-4 every play and watch it not work. I want to see more Collins/Hightower taking that A gap straight at QBs causing problems.

Coverage was overall great except for Logan Ryan who sucked and has sucked. Another 2nd year CB dud? Ugh. Why no Dennard?

Offensive line really regressed in the second half. Brady was on his game moving around pressure all day. OL gotta fix it's ****.

The difference between a **** QB and great QB was shown today.... Last week we saw Stafford throw at Revis and Browner like 17 times wondering why his completion % was 33.... Today Rodgers took what gave and outside of the ******** Jordy TD Revis and Browner were thrown at like 7 times for 17 yards. Rodgers abused us with Adams and his TE. That's what makes him so great. He elevates random guys to perform when needed.

Rodgers is very good. Gotta hand that to him.

We can beat this team though. We can certainly do it at Gillette. We can on neutral field. I also think we can in their house again too. We didn't play well today. Wake up call

The next 4 are gonna be just as tough as today. Especially SD, Miami and Buffalo, all fighting for playoff spots and playing well.

Huh?!? You do realize that SD, Miami, and Buffalo are not nearly the teams that the Packers are. And the Pats are at home for three of the last four games.

Only thing that bugged me in that game was the number of times the Pats "gave up" second down by trying to go deep. They had nothing deep. but they kept throwing away downs on long throws.

Ont he one to Gronk, had he caught it, they still would have lost the game, I expect, because they would have given the ball back to GB with almost 3 minutes and 3 timeouts left, and needing only a field goal.

Ah well, good game anyway. They need to win out. Denver is, at this moment destroying KC (who have really choked big time in the last few minutes).

You go for 2 in that spot.

I thought we should've blitzed on that last 3rd down

Eh Miami and buffalo are at home for NE, I don't see the pats losing either even if they are tough, which would be good. I don't see SD defense as nearly as good as GB, I think GB's defense has been playing pretty dam good, and SD on the road isn't the same as playing in GB.

Sure hope I'm right, 1st seed is hugely important.

The biggest thing that showed tonight is that the Pats need to be able to rush the passer. How many times tonight did AR stand back and look all over the filed and find a open receiver. If we can't get a pass rush we will not last long in the playoffs.

None of them will be as tough because none of the teams are as good.
Miami and buffalo will be tougher than they should be because they are a division rival.

SD will be tough because of the schedule change. Going out there helps with jet lag, but it also screws up the "system"so to speak.

In our favor, SD is coming back from a close win in Baltimore. Hopefully they ride that high and have a Norv flashback. Unfortunately they have the horses outside to give our defense problems. While we held lacy in check, Rodgers beat us with his legs. Luckily, rivers is not that quarterback, and he took since big his today. He got up show after a few. We need to get after Rivers and lay a shoulder when possible. More importantly, we need to protect Brady. He seemed to be walking gingerly on that right leg, and I think that contributed to some of the errant throws late (missing DA when Dobson had the gap after Edes limped off).

In any case, these next few games are as challenging as the last five. We have key players banged up and are seeing familiar opponents. We could easily drop two with poor execution.

Did anyone notice that towards the end that Brady was yelling pass, pass, pass? My Mom told me she read his lips(she's just as intense as I am about the Pats lol)

I think the pats played like they plan on seeing these guys again....... Thoroughly outplayed and still in the spot to take the lead in the end.

The game film will be much more useful to the pats
Pats definitely held lots of cards in the pockets. BB's game plan was awful. I think he did it on purpose.

I predicted a loss but I'm not mad about that performance. It looked like we played average and only barely lost to a great team. That's scarily impressive.

Of course Marshall Faulk doesnt miss a chance to take a shot at pats fans. Says PatsFans get upset when we bring up the fact that brady has played all these big QBs he has beaten at gillete and today we saw how big of an advantage it was when they face a similar QB on the road.

i was surprise that the offense only managed 3 good drives, the packers had like 7 or 8 drives that got in our redzone.

LOL we gave up 26 points to an offense that has been putting up 50 burgers. Hardly met their match.
I agree to that . But really, there was never a situation where it felt that the secondary had them figured out. Great redzone defense , yes but otherwise , they just made whatever passes they wanted.
