The Patriots vs Packers POST Game Thread

Wasn't the pats best game for a whole bunch of reasons. Slow start by the O, Defensive Line getting very little push but also giving up big running gains early. A coupole of poor calls from the refs.

Most of that basically led to packers being in control most of the game (that should have been an easy TD Adams dropped).

But there is also a lot to like from the game and i think if we started a bit better then this game has a much different complexion.

Redzone Defense was on fire all game (except that Adamd dropped TD). We also were given a lot of things to work on come playoffs.

The only thing i will be slightly critical of on the last drive was after we hit the 50 it should basically have been 4 down football and we should have called plays as such. I think that we possibly should have comitted to the short passing/run game a tad more rather than taking those long shots.

Long story short tho, we were a gronk catch away from leading with 3 minutes left, against a good team, and not playing our best football. So there is good and bad from this one... on to the Chargers.

Damn, I feel like the Packers schemed against some over our tendencies on both sides of the ball.

I feel the same way, like the Packers offensive coaches knew what type of coverages they would get. The receivers for the Packers were impressive tonight.

Cobb made some great adjustments on his routes, especially the last one that clinched it for Green Bay.

Hightower would have knocked down that pass or have a chance for an interception had Rodgers thrown that ball in rhythm, but Cobb made a subtle adjustment on the route, and Rodgers (as was the meme all game long) had enough time to hit Cobb in the smallest of windows for the first down after the adjustment.

Great play.

OK. Since you are refusing to budge from obviously being wrong, I will be as literal as possible.

They came in averaging 2.7 points per drive. They scored 2.63 points per drive.

So, allow me to correct my post: The Patriots offense was .07 points per drive less effective than they have been all season.

Sorry, I guess you're right. They really tremendously sucked .07 points per drive more than they have all year.

Have a good night.

They were not as productive as your own post proved. You can't count points they didn't get.

This is the lowest point total for the offense since week 4. Think what you like, but the offense struggled. It was obvious just from an eye test.

Cherry pick stats you think are important if you like, but Belichick himself would tell you the score is the only stat that matters.

This was just like the Denver AFCCG last year. Pats had 8 drives that game also. The defense kept the game low scoring, but they didn't allow the offense to get on the field as much as needed. The issue wasn't completely defense, and the offense struggled a little. But that was a direct result of poor starting position, off the field for large amounts of time, and not stopping the packers out of scoring position.

That was the problem, the packers had to many drives that went deep into pats territory. Pats d gave up too many huge plays.

As easy as it is to blame the offense, the defense could have done better and shares a lot of the blame

She won't budge. Let her believe in false points.

Goes back to no pressure on Rodgers. Cobb/Nelson/Adams are shifty and can get open, given time.

BB needs to choose a CB3.

Actually, how many punts did Packers had all game? 1? 2?
Not enough obviously. Pats definitely didn't bring their A game yet came one possession of winning

Have a good night.

Sorry, not trying to be a ****, but when people refuse to budge despite being presented with facts which contradict their gut reaction opinion, I tend to get cranky.

Wouldn't you think that BB would learn that rushing a passer or signing a pass rusher can make a world of difference? See SB 42 & 46.

Pass rush was non-existant and the Pats didn't stop the Packers on their side of the field nearly enough to win. When you add in that and the OL struggles, you have two big components needed for a loss.

I thought the pass rush was non-existent on key third downs. Overall, they sacked rodgers 3 times.

Early in the year (preseason), I figured was a loss. While I never liek the Pats losing, I'm not my usual frustrated self after a Pats loss.

Both teams left alot of plays on the field and the GB defense played better than advertised and our secondary was amazing on some of those downs (especially the one where Rodgers had 10+ seconds and had to ultimately throw it away). We stuffed them in the red zone and t the end of the day, they made the plays they needed to ensure their victory.

If this is a preview of the SB, then a neutral field (and assuming our starters + jones are healthy) will certainly make the game a bit more even. Plus, it seemed that GB/McCarthy went deeper into their playbook and showed their hands more than we did. That could bode well for a rematch.

The loss means our lead is now just 1 game and it's time for the Patriots to shine. hopefully, it is a reminder of the intensity they need to bring to close out the season. Still, I feel the team could go on the road into a hostile stadium and be more than competitive.

We're gonna have to self-scout hard. You could see it in Belichick's face afterwards that he knew McCarthy got the best of his staff.

Also, I wish McDaniels would stop running on 3rd and short in the first against teams who either play with good gap integrity or aren't overly susceptible to the run. The Pats thought they could out-talent GB and were proven wrong. If there is a rematch, we're gonna have to scheme our butts off.

No worries, we just have a different point of view. There is absolutely nothing wrong with that. I do think you made good points but stats are just stats to me. I know what I saw. Maybe you saw something different. You're entitled.

Yup, fair enough.

Just showed the end of half td on post game, McCourty blew that. Bit outside when at best the right side (his view) ran the same post as Nelson. Said it was a bad safety play at the time, now it was nationally exposed.

That said, it was a one possession game. A few awful calls, a couple drops, a few bad calls and a couple vereen run calls all attributed to this loss. Not to mention the defense forced gb off the field twice? I think? I'll take it. Hostile territory and a one score loss. Give us Jones and Siliga in a rematch? Hopefully no gimpy Brady and Edelman? We win.

All that said, dobson. Foot injury last year, hammy now. I'm not exactly optimistic about his production going forward. What did confound me was wright on the sideline late. We were going two te with gronk and ol/hooman (not sure, I wasn't paying attention to that) while Edes was hobbling off the field to Wright and McD. SMFH

On the first Dobson play (teenager Edes went out if he had a prior snap), he was wide open on the sideline, gap in the zone. Brady never looked at him and instead threw a garbage attempt at a tighter window to Amendola.

Still, WTF was Mcdummy doing with all the inside vereen runs? Did he think he was out thinking the defense? Blount ran well, gray ran well on his one attempt. Wtf. This is the McDaniels that scares me this time of year. The obvious, personnel dictated call is abandoned for the "tricky" play. It has been his undoing late in the year in successful teams, and all year in his failings.

Browner was great(so was Revis outside of that play at the end of the first half)

We are one more pass rusher(next to chandler) from being a dominant defense

The offense going three and out the first two drives was a big momentum push for GB. Their defense is average, but they really rallied behind their offense having the upper hand on our defense early.

Talib is out with an injury tonight? I'm shocked and appalled. He must've been told it was an important game.

Probably already mentioned.....can we please get rid of the Vereen up
the middle play.Hate it Hate it Hate it:mad:
