Ray Rice wins appeal; free agent can now sign with any NFL team

The real fun in all this is when the details in this whole "transparent process" come to light. It is implicit in the decision that Goodell was lying about how much he initially knew regarding the elevator incident. Can't wait to see that lie on display in black ink on white paper.

Who knows when the results of that investigation will come out? It's been going on for 3 months and we haven't heard anything about when it will be done.

It is interesting that the last two times an independent party reviewed Goodell's decisions (this one and the player suspensions for the Saints' bounty penalties), they were reversed.

I'm thinking that the JETS would be the perfect place for the likes of him.

No idea who picks him up but he owes Adrian Peterson a big bouquet of 'Thank you flowers', maybe even a fruit basket. Before AP was caught pounding on his toddler's scrotum Rice was set to be this year's biggest villain.

Now "all" he's done is pound an adult woman's face which seems tame by comparison thanks to the new low Peterson set.

That's because the two cases are miles apart.

Peterson used a stick on a helpless 4 year old kid multiple times. Rice took one swing, that may or may not have been with a fist, at a woman who had just hit him, and the woman got knocked out when her head hit the handrail.

Imagine how much more angry people would feel if they got to see a video of Peterson snapping off whips on the poor little kid. The pictures were bad enough.

You left off the part about RayRay then dragging her out of the elevator by her frikkin' HAIR.

Both deserve every bit of bad karma they receive for the rest of their lives.

Goodell had nothing to do with this; the judge/arbitrator essentially ruled that the "new evidence" did not, in fact, constitute any sort of evidence of new wrongdoing for which the NFL could impose harsher discipline.

Judgment is posted on the NFL website...

I don't agree entirely with your post (re: what Goodell has to do with the case), but I also don't have time to read the entire judgment, because I'm actually busy briefing other legal cases right now. But it appears the argument from the NFL was that Rice did not explain to them that he "causally" caused her to be knocked unconscious; that argument is incredibly weak and the decision maker in this case appears to suggest as much.

Decision maker held that Rice did not mislead Goodell, or in other words, Goodell knew what happened from the outset.

Ray Rice cold ****ed his fiancé and then stood over her as if she were a side of beef. Goodell should have suspended him for the year the first time.

I didn't mean to belittle the severity of Rice's crime. I was just trying to show that Peterson's was more severe.

I stopped rooting for bad karma for players after the NFL and Baltimore honored Ray Lewis. I still can't believe they actually erected a statue of him.

The talk about Peterson being a "child abuser" is really overblown.

The fact that people actually consider that worse than blowing up your fiance in an elevator is beyond me.

Down vote my posts all you want, I'll be the one laughing when you don't discipline your kids and they grow up to be knocking their fiances out in elevators.

Even though he lost, and clearly bungled this one from the start, Goodell got away with one here. He can now duck and hide some more, this time under the cloak of deniability because he's claiming he didn't get the straight answer from Rice.

One thing I'd like to know is why did Kraft seem so sure that Rice wouldn't play in the NFL again when this story first broke.

It is more likely that the kid who gets beat will end up being the one who Knocks their girlfriend or wife out.

Well, at least we agree that Goodell screwed up. The sad part is that Goodell was perfectly willing to let the whole thing go away, and only went strict with him after the video became public.

I was referring to the poster's "conspiracy theory" about the overturning of the suspension.

Really? I know plenty of people who were physically disciplined growing up and they turned out just fine.

Rice will not play this year. Odds are good that he never plays again. He was declining before he beat his girlfriend. I doubt any team will take the PR hit for a declining RB.
I agree. Why would any team in their right mind want to risk the backlash for picking up a guy who was already pretty clearly washed up. Hasn't Bill taught us that to a large extent, RB is a pretty fungible position anyway?

So in other words, every one who doesn't beat their kids till they bleed with end up having them beat their wives? Pretty sure it doesn't work that way.

He took a switch to his kid because he was acting out and cursing at his siblings (and probably a lot more too). You act as if this has never been done before. Should he have been a little lighter on the hits? Sure, but it's not like there were waterfalls of blood flowing.

Ray Rice knocked his fiance out in a public elevator and then dragged her out like she was an animal.

Who do you think is the changed man here?

Wasn't Rice really bad last year or was the line the main problem? I don't think he's good enough to warrant signing him. If him being a total POS wasn't enough reason. He's lucky he's not in jail.
