When I was clamoring for Phillips as a possibility in that thread I was thinking that trying to move Jones to the PS would be a very plausible move.This isn't hoped to be a permanent cut, unlike the sort we were talking about earlier. As for this, it's probably a matter of OL depth (educated guess given the injury to their OL/TE). Devey may be a tuba player, but he's THEIR tuba player.
I was listing the players that have contributed less than Jones. Unlike his 4th round peers Fleming and Stork, White has shown nothing. He sits 5th on the RB depth chart behind a few UDFAs, one of whom was recently released and claimed by nobody. I share your hope that White's future potential turns out more like Asante Samuel or James Sanders than, say, other 4th round picks such as Josh Boyce, Rich Ornberger, Jonathan Wilhite or Kareem Brown.No way they would release James White
BB is probably wringing his hands right now chortling over who he'll cut Christmas Eve/Day.

Belichick: "He's practice-squad eligible; he's one of the exception players, so that would be a possibility. Again, there are other players that are in consideration based on our team, what other players are available -- we've made a couple practice squad transactions [this week]; we've made them throughout the course of the year. Again, we'll try to manage it the best that we can and there are a lot of things that go into that. Part of it is what we have, part of it is guys who are available. It's probably going to be constantly in some type of transition throughout the course of the year, like it usually is."
I thought that for a moment, but Bill straightened me out.I think the Jones release may now be for Siliga.
@MikeReiss
With DL Sealver Siliga present at today's practice, this should officially start his 21-day clock in coming off short-term IR.

LB Chris White, who showed up on injury report Thursday (ankle/limited), was lone player not spotted at practice today. Core special teamer.

In-house option on practice squad: LB Darius Fleming. Or maybe Patriots consider bringing back LB Ja'Gared Davis from Chiefs practice squad.
Today at 4PMWhat time does the waiver claim end??

It would be odd to open a spot for Siliga a day before his first practice in two months. Far more likely that he is on the exception list at least one entire week.I think the Jones release may now be for Siliga.
