Good news. We have the best ST unit in the NFL by a long shot, as far as I can tell. Will be interested to see what his 2015 cap hit is. His current hit is $2.266M, so it should be cheaper.

Very happy to see this and not at all surprising. When I made my mental list of players likely to sign an extension during the bye week (I was very surprised that nothing happened), he was the guy I figured was the most likely. #2 was Gost, #3 was McCourty (McCourty being the lowest only because of the big money involved). Happy that the teams' special team captain, one of the team's true leaders (look who always leads the post-game breakdown), and one of the best in the league at his position is under contract for a fair price from both the club's standpoint and his standpoint.

Congrats to the best gunner in the NFL. Well deserved.

Good move, intelligent football player who does his job.

Glad to see this, and affordable at two years, $4.2mm. Good for him.

There are a number of important free agents in 2015 - this removes one from the list.

Others include:
Ridley, Vereen, Bolden, Develin
Tyms, Wright
Cannon, Connolly
Siliga
(Revis), McCourty, Chung
Gostkowski

Hope to see a couple more extensions from that group.

Wright is signed through 2015 and basically 2016 as he is a RFA after the '15 season.

Have to give credit to Slater. Try to find a special teams play where he isn't the first one to the guy with the ball. Guy is a difference maker. Well deserved extension.

Here! Here! He earned it, solid signing/extension.

Every position should have a shot at the HoF, Slater would be headed there.

in the word of slater...."AWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW YEEEAAAAAAHHHHHH"

Amen, no one has done the lockerroom team victory breakdown better than Matthew since the days of Bruschi.

(gee, that sounded Biblical........) :D

The guy is an absolute beast on ST, and honestly I think he just keeps getting better. He's like a missile in coverage. Well deserved.

Love it, sweet!

Bravo to Slater - worth every penny.

I think Vereen might stick around. Develin will be cheap. Ridley? With Grey and Blount, I doubt it, honestly, unless he'll come cheap. I still think he has the potential to be a top-tier back, but it may be time for him to move to a place where he's not freaking out about fumbles and can just let it fly.

Wright is here for another year at least on his current deal, I believe. Tyms shoul dbe relatively cheap if they want to keep him.

Cannon? Don't know how they're viewing him right now with Fleming playing well. I fear he may go elsewhere, a la Dnald Thomas. Connolly will stick around on less $$, I think, if they want him.

I expect Siliga to be back. Hope so.

SIGN Revis! Period. I don't care what it takes. Sign him, and if you can't exercise the option. Seriously. he's that important to this team. McCourty, I expect will come to terms on a solid deal that he's more than earned. Chung...I think he's staying. He'll be better here than anywhere else. He might not agree, but other teams probably will.

Gost? I don't know. Hope they can keep him, but not holding my breath.

Most of all, i really don't want to see the D take a step backwards. Been a LOOOOOOOOONG time since we've had a D this good, and it's only getting better.
