Bedard vs. the Stoopids Listening Thread

Mike McCarthy talks the talk about running the ball, but never does. Feels he has weaknesses. He wants to win the game by passing. Belichick will dare them to run the ball.

Branch play extremely well, his big body can stop the run, but also his power can push the pocket.

Branch is much better than Chris Jones and should start over bim.

Branch is a big MoFo. Agree. Backed up by Silver Slugger and Chris Jones. We won a lot of games last year with Silega and Jones starting. We ain't even talking Revis and Browner yet.

I generally don't watch the MLB unless they are getting burned which happened a lot last year though it appeared to be due to playing out of position. So he is playing at a Luke Kuechly level now?
He isn't actually a MLB. We may have played 20 snaps of 43 total since Mayo went down, maybe fewer.
He plays everywhere. Outside the DE, inside the DE, over the G. He is effective rushing, covering, playing the inside run, and playing the edge.
He is a different player than Kuechly, and much more versatile.

Bedard discussing possibility that Mayo could be odd man out next year with Hightower's emergence.

He thinks Houston/Philly could be landing spots for Mayo and that there will be a bigger market for him than Mankins.
--------------
(My thoughts)

We have a ton of draft picks. I know we only start 2 LBs but why get rid of Mayo? I hope he stays and takes a paycut unless a team wow'ed us with an offer. He's only 29 next year.

If anything, Mayo will take a pay cut to stay.

BB loves Mayo as much as any guy he's coached, I think. It will be interesting to see how it plays out. Obviously Hightower & Collins are playing great now, but the depth at the position is thin with Mayo out. I think the most likely scenario is Mayo has a portion of his salary converted to incentives. He wants to be here, too.

Yeah sorry guys but Revis means so much to this defense - you pay him. I don't care if it ends up costing us McCourty or whoever, we've not had a defense like this since 2004 and short of Brady there's nobody we should keep on this team more than Revis. He's just too damn good and we finally have a defense that can take us to the Super Bowl.

He showed versatility at Alabama by lining as a DE on passing downs but he's showing even more than that now

That 2011 Alabama defense was the best I've ever seen. Gave up 106 points in 13 games. Some of them in garbage time. Played LSU twice and held them without a touchdown. Big, intimidating and could cover too. Hightower, Upshaw, Mosely, Barron, Kirkpatrick, Milliner and Lester to name a few.

I loved Barron, Hightower and Kirkpatrick that year. I was a Hightower advocate pre-draft that year so I'm thrilled to see what we are seeing now.

Doesn't think Mankins play great in Tampa Bay. Ok, not great. Says that he could catch some of the passes that Wright has caught.

Thinks that with Mankins, the Pats might have an undefeated season.

The question is whether you rather be undefeated with Mankins and his cap # and the Pats in their current position with Tim Wright? Bedard said he would rather have Wright.

Doesn't feel great with the o-line if Stork goes down. Thinks Kline is showing some stuff, but the rest of the back ups inside suck.

Feels Green Bay's offense is better now than Denver's was when the Pats met them. Aaron Rodgers is the difference.

The Packers are one of the best front running teams. If they face adversity and a few three and outs, the crowd gets out of the game and they makes mistakes.

I think that's a fair point by Bedard, but ultimately an obvious one to some extent. If starters get hurt, yeah, we'll be in trouble. The Patriots team is a beast right now, but like so many teams and so many seasons, we can only weather so many injuries.

We're going to need health on our side to do what we did in 01, 03, 04. Especially the health of #s 12, 24 & 87.
