Pretty amusing description of having to play in Foxboro

I really with we had a city stadium
Think about parking at Fenway..Ugh.. Some places actually do it well. St. Louis has downtown stadiums with restaurants close by and ease of access. Philly have all their stadiums isolated in South Philly near the major highways. The Linc is about 50 yards from I-95 with easy on and off but unless you were putting the stadiums in Southie, I don't know where in Boston, you'd put the stadium with mass transit and highway access....
The other advantage to Foxboro is the capacity to expand, like Patriots Place which would be limited and mosre costly in a downtown venue...

Kraft wanted one in Boston and got rebuffed, Providence would have been a nice second choice.
Yeah I followed that whole story pretty closely. Neither South Boston nor Providence (nor, in the end, Hartford despite the Rowland's efforts) wanted the Stadium in their back yards.

The most amazing thing is that Kraft didn't take any public money to build the stadium, aside from a small amount for some pedestrian accommodations.

Think many teams stay in Providence.. so N on Rt. 1, you do pass at least one trailer park on the left, maybe 2..

But to denigrate Foxboro coming from Detroit, shows little intelligence, maybe that is why they suck.

41 minutes? Why not just stay at the hotel next to the stadium?
Likely too many distractions... Went to a hotel wedding in North Jersey about 15 years ago and the Jets stayed there before a HOME game... was about 20 minutes from the Meadowlands and they had a Jersey State trooper on every floor to prevent people from getting off if they weren't on that floor

Don't give Kraft credit he doesn't deserve.

It's not that he "didn't take" any public money, it was that the MA legislature stood firm and refused to give him any public money (there's at least one thing Tom Finneran did right). As for the US-1 improvements, he did get some public money for that, but it was essentially structured as a loan and he has to pay it back.

But the bottom line is that he kept the team in the state under circumstances that have led other owners either to move or have a war with legislators to force their hand.

Trust me, when a guy who works in Detroit calls something a Trailer Park it is a massive compliment considering a trailer park would be a massive step up from vacants filled with dead bodies.

Don't give Finneran credit he doesn't deserve. The only reason the MA legislature stood firm is because Kraft didn't grease enough palms. The majority of the population was in support of public funds for the stadium, if not the exact location.

I didn't think he was denigrating Foxborough. All he did was mention seeing a trailer park or something and how the stadium appears quickly, which is an accurate description.

Plus, he's from Mississippi, went to school in New Mexico and spent 09-12 playing for Houston. He's pretty new to Detroit.

I don't get the intelligence jab either.

I agree that Detroit sucks though, so it isn't all bad.

I usually use the T for Red Sox games, but the times I drove weren't bad

I agree with the drive from a Sox game. I parked in the little lot at the end of Newbury St where it meets Brookline Ave on a beautiful Sunday afternoon. I was on the Pike in a matter of minutes.

On another note, I wish the casino bid went to Winn and the Foxboro plan. It probably would've got another access road from 495 and maybe Kraft would've got a Superbowl.

I don't think he was really denigrating Foxboro, so much as expressing a level of surprise at the way this rather giant stadium complex springs up out of nowhere when you come in that way.

More Remote stadium = Less trouble and less distractions for players

It's one reason why BB has been able to deal with troubled players so easily.
