Amusing commentary on Blount :)

Some of those old SOF types can still bring it, so I think I'd still give him the edge.

Just read an article about a 62(?) year old former Delta Force operator who can still ruck run for miles and put 18 year old athletes to shame.

I didn't know he was actually former military, but it doesn't surprise me.

Yep. Just read a little more about him...holy cow.

16 years in the British Army
British Special Forces
Coldstream Guards
British Empire Medal recipient
Saw action in the Falkands & Northern Ireland (and other places I''m sure)
Helped put down a coup d'état in Kenya in 1982

It seems to me that dealing with a PO'd Suh and a few drunks at Gillette would be a piece of cake.:)

Browner is big, but he'd still be giving up 75 pounds at least
Size is not the end all be all in fighting, I guarantee you Chandler Jones could beat the **** out of Suh and just about any other player in the NFL because he regularly trains with his brother Jon. Knowing how to fight is much more significant than weight or height.

Do you have any links about the type of training Jones does with his brother? I suspect most of it is focused on things that can be applied to football like conditioning and hand fighting. I could be wrong, but I doubt Chandler Jones is a skilled martial artist.

Size, leverage, toughness and aggression are the most important factors when not talking about highly trained fighters. Suh is not a big wuss with chicken legs. Even a trained fighter should be wary of Suh. His shear size strength and leverage means that once he gets his hands on you, you have a very small window to disable him before you're out. I don't say this about many people, but Suh is a scary dude.

Am I the only one who hopes that Suh signs with the Pats in the off season? Could you imagine having both Vince and Suh between the tackles!

I would love to have Suh's talent on the Pats. That said, I don't want Suh the person anywhere near the team. The guy has a genuine malevolence towards others. His mind is broken, and if it doesn't get fixed, someday he will hurt someone.

Ali, Foreman and Tyson were all around 220 when fighting.
Hard to believe George fought at 218-200 back in the 70s..Dude was a rock.

Boxing is not fighting.

So you are saying you'd stand a chance with Tyson if you were 'fighting' and he was only 'boxing'?

Yes, crew1954, that is what I am saying.

Huh? Have you ever been around a trained fighter? If Suh isn't a trained fighter, he probably gets whooped by a 180 pound trained fighter.

This is a weird conversation. How long before it turns into "My Dad could beat your Dad up!"?

What has he done off the field that makes you say this? Some players are very different people on and off the field. For the record, I'm not that high on Suh and I've been trying to figure out for his entire career whether he makes his DL or his DL makes him.

Another example of a terror on the field but somewhat normal person off the field would be Terrell Suggs.

I can't site much off the field, aside from his public reaction to on-field issues, but some of his on the field stuff is pretty bad, especially when Shwartz was the coach. My biggest knock on him simply from observing him. That man oozes contempt. As I said before, I don't call many people scary, but Suh definitely falls into that category.

Here is a tool that gives tremendous insight into observing the internal state of others:

That's an interesting link.

I honestly think Suh is the way he is because he's been surrounded by weak coaches his entire career. Schwartz and Caldwell are wussies that don't discipline players for being selfish. Gerald McCoy is just as savage as Suh between the whistles.

There is newer work, forget who did it, that expands on Dr. Ekman's work, and divides expressions into much more specific emotional categories. They may have reached a little too far in their expansion of his work, but I do know some that hold it in high regard.

Even more off topic, Sr. Dr. Ekman's, Junior Dr. Ekman's and Allan Wallace's work together on CEB is even more interesting.

The strength and speed of any professional athlete is something never to underestimate. I did once 40 years ago and still remember the lesson.

In 1972 a friend of mine brought a friend of his along to a party. The friend of the friend was a professional boxer, a heavyweight. The boxer was around my age 19, and no one that I had heard of and never heard of much after, so he was no Joe Frazier.

Well we were drinking and talking about boxing and what not and the boxer said " hey, I will let you hit me as hard as you like, , in the stomach, and I will only hit you in the navel area and only place my hand 3 inches back from your stomach. I bet you will feel my punch more than I feel yours".

Well I was a professional skier, and had rock hard abs, so I thought, " how much can this guy hurt me with a 3 inch punch."

Well the answer is lots. My liver and kidneys sued me for divorce to start.

I don't know what you do Galeb or what shape your in, but me, personally, I would never be that casual about the abilities of a pro athlete, in the area of their expertise.
