P.O.S. Dominic Raiola fined $10k for punch, nothing for chop block

Don't overreact guys. There's a section in the CBA that covers this... Section 12, Paragraph 8, By-Law 14.2 states:

"Intent to injure is no longer punishable in the event the opponent scored a meaningless touchdown when time dictates they could have taken a knee. In those instances, scoring team may actually be punished for intent to injure the other teams frilly sensitivities."

It's in the book. Look it up.

This league is getting RUINED by the week. What a travesty.

Pretty ridiculous

As expected, at least by yours truly. I really can't remember one case since Commissioner Blockhead (h/t Zeus) came into authority where there has been any specific league punishment (fine) levied against an opponent for anything committed against a Patriot, be it spearing Brady, Bobby Wade taking Harrison's knee out, Ryan Clark's head shot on Welker, Mangold's cheap shot on Talib, Welker's cheap shot on Talib, yada yada yada. The events of this year have proven beyond a shadow of a doubt that the NFL league office works by double standards, and the Patriots are a special case for them. Not worth getting agitated about it, just go with the principle thst living well is the best revenge.

what a f'n joke. League doesn't give one damn about player safety if they let a pos like him continue to play without facing any punishment. F U Goodell.

I find it difficult to believe that a player can go out with the intent to injure, verbalize his intent to injure and the league would do nothing about it. The Commissar fines players for not having their shoelaces tied correctly.

Hard to believe because he admitted what he was doing otherwise I could see some gray area. Hes a pos and I dont condone anything he did but id like to see teams play out the victory formation on both sides when the game is in reach(not what happened here obviously). I dont see why you should concede defeat when you can force a fumble.

According to a league source

Where did you get this from? Any link? did you hear it on the radio? Did you talk to someone in the know at the NFL?
If you start a thread with "information" you need to cite where this information was obtained.

I'm changing the thread title until we have that information.

On 4 consecutive plays yesterday, Raiola either punched Zach Mooore or dove for his knees on a kneel down play.

3 weeks ago, Roger Goodell fined Julian Edelman over $8,000 for tossing a ball into the stands after a touchdown.

We need to rid the NFL of bad characters like Edelman.

While he was laying on the ground prone, I'd have "fallen" and aimed my knee at his forearm trying my damnedest to break it. Cheap shot artists need to be dealt with at the player level.

I mean it's not like there's no evidence of multiple, unflagged, infringements. Not punishing after the fact and during the game just shows the officials and league office are incompetent/don't actually care for player safety.

What a scum bag and sore loser he is! He should have just went over to Coach Belichick and knock him out if he was angry about it. But he's too much of a coward to do it.

It had been linked to right here on the site's news wire:

According to NFL Media’s Ian Rapoport, Lions center Dominic Raiola will not be fined for his actions in Sunday’s game against the Patriots.

On the last play in the game when the Lions were taking a knee, Raiola dove at the knees of defensive lineman Zach Moore. This comes after he was seen looking like he threw a punch at the back of his head on a play earlier on the drive.

Herr Goodell's NFL...

You can bet that if he did this to a Jets player, he would have been fined.

Lemme guess...they decided the mitigating factor was the Pats running up the score? Because we all know that is every bit as bad as trying to end someone's career with an injury!!

:mad::mad::mad:

Yeah man, he's too much of a coward to attack a 62 year old man. :p

It's mind boggling that the NFL will (apparently) take zero action against a player who openly admitted that he was deliberately attempting to injure another player.

If nothing else it sets a horrible and dangerous precedent.

Kinda see the insult you're going for .... in reality, he wasn't man enough to do it to Vince. BB rubbed it in by saying as much.

Right about now, I would imagine the entire New Orleans Saints Organization would be ripped and pissed at this Commissioner IF this Raiola character slides free on this.

.

I swear this league is being run by people who wear a different kind of helmet.
