LS Danny Aiken

Scooped it up? It was at his f**cking knees! How is a punter in the NFL not expected to handle a long snap thats at knee level?
:08

His knees might have almost been on the ground, but otherwise...

It's convenient that the punter is out of the picture until after he's fumbled the punt. On NFL Rewind, he's completely in the picture.

Why are you so invested in this when the problem was the mis-communication and the resulting missed blocking that allowed a dolphin player and free run right up the middle?

Why are you so invested? I assume it is because you are a fan. Guess what? You are not the only one.

And yes, that was a bad snap. Yes there were many other problems, but bad protection does not excuse the snap. You guys act as if the snap is not an issue. I agree it is not THE issue. But only the blind would say that it was not AN issue.

BTW, I did not quote you for bad debate technique. I quoted Dues, although if you want me to accuse you of being a professional politician... :)

It was an awful snap. Aiken has been a disaster waiting to happen! All last year his snaps were not good. Several times the holder made great plays to handle his bad snaps and make the FG or XP. They need another LS. Bring back Ott or go out and get McDermott.

Had to laugh at the special teams getting an "A" by Reiss despite the bowling ball snap by Aiken. I guess we're grading on a curve as long as Allen manages to field these things and still make good punts.

It's tougher to snap when the NT is on the ball. Looking at the replay it seems Aiken's stance and body movement during the snap were fine. I can't see the grip but I suspect he just didn't lift and throw enough on the snap. That's pretty easily corrected.

Certainly not convinced by Aiken as a LS, but I'm not gonna start calling for the return of Tyler Ott. There are probably worse out there.

I think it will be an issue that is dealt with in the summer if Bill shares my feelings.

Let's just get touchdowns every time we have the ball and it will be fine!

The Pats are would most certainly replace Aiken if they could. They've shown that they have tried to find another one. They brought in 2 prior to the season and neither could beat Aiken out. They even brought Ott back later in the season and he still couldn't beat out Aiken.

Don't be surprised if the Pats have that on their off-season wish list..

another couple years?

I would agree with that scale though. Its about how they played on the special teams plays, not whether one player had to cover for another.

He seems to choke when we are backed up against our own end zone.

Aiken has been awful and Allen has bailed him out time and time again. Allen's first punt was one that would have sailed if he didn't reach up and snag it. I miss Lonnie Paxton.

Who is the alternative to Akien? Another JAG off the street? Send someone on the PS to long snapper school? Trade for a LS, seriously?
People underestimate how hard it is to find a good LS

I think he was busy trying to protect his head. That has to be a bit distracting.

There are two things that scare me about this team, and one of them is danny Aiken.

I was kidding, but it is scary near the end zone. I imagine BB is hoping he'll calm down and a change now would be worse.

I'm not sure why a change now would be worse.

Conjecture on my part. If the other one was Don Knotts and aikens confidence was even worse...who knows?

Could be the Ken walter cross we have to bear.

Yeah, I would only want a game tested veteran.

LS seems like the easiest job in the NFL. It's a skill, but one many people are capable of developing. Starting today I'm going to make my 5 year old son practice long snapping every day. A life at the league minimum is a pretty good gig.

So don't worry, helps on the way in approximately 15 years.

Aiken is in danger of snapping himself off the Team.
