Pats rip Dominic Raiola cut block

As I mentioned before, this isn't Raiola's first time doing stupid garbage like this. He's been fined before. He is a repeat offender. After Doug Kyed pointed out that Raiola also PUNCHED Zach Moore in the head on another play (I hope Doug forwards that video to the NFL) Raiola should definitely get a suspension.

Glad we ran up the score on a dirty defense with guys like this and the likes of Suh.
My favorite moment of the game was when Brady drew No-class-man Suh offsides. His expression was so like "I want to be anywhere else but here." Priceless.

He wrote "RELATIVELY fortunate".

And he is right, compared to the last several years.

We are also missing our top passrusher. The main difference this year is that we have depth.

Riaola Punching someone in the back of the head is one way to make sure they don't get to your QB, for sure: http://gfycat.com/PowerlessContentAbyssiniangroundhornbill

Yeah, Raiola definitely wasn't going to punch Wilfork in the back of the head or go at his knees. Waited for the 270-pound rookie to play NT

I hope the Pats send this to the league. If the league office is really all about player safety (don't worry, it's not!) - then neanderthals like this would get suspended for trying to injure other players.

They should be banned from the league, not just suspended. There is no place in this game for **** like that.

I think we have to look at what the Pats did on first and goal at the one with an insurmountable lead in the context of what happened at the end of last week's Steelers--Jets game, when a Pittsburgh player made a dive to come after Geno in a kneeldown situation at the end of the game (in that case, it was still a one score game). If any team was going to take advantage of a "defenseless" QB or lineman in a kneeldown situation, it would be the Lions.

BB likely didn't want to expose TB or any of his players to that risk and had them be on their guard and play football until the end. As usual, he did the right thing.

That's why he did it too. If they didn't do that to Aiken they would have just kneeled on the ball I guarantee it.

Of course, if they hadn't done that to Aiken, Gostkowski's FG would have stood, and the Lions would have had the ball back. ;)

Scumbag move. Tops if off by admitting to it. I guess he gets points for being honest. An honest scumbag I guess. In the clip though you'll notice the first Patriot to try to get in there was Browner. Dude brings legit attitude to the D.

BB's comments on this:
“I’m sure there was a lot of frustration there from Raiola, that was obvious,” Belichick said. “Never beaten us. Had a tough day in there dealing with (Vince) Wilfork, (Dont’a) Hightower and those guys. I’d say that was probably frustration. We saw a lot of that at the end of the game. (Tahir) Whitehead on (LeGarrette) Blount’s touchdown, (C.J.) Mosley on the personal foul on the field goal.”

Here's the thing that annoys me about this: I think we were ready to take a knee but the Lions were calling TOs and still playing the game. That's why I think we kept going - because if they're going to keep trying to win then we're going to keep trying to win. That's a standard Belichick approach.

The TD though? Taking a FG off the board for that? That was a pure '**** you' based on what was happening on the field in garbage time.

Well, here is an excellent insight from one of the best ever to don the Pat's uniform: Tedy Bruchi on ESPN's chat when asked about this cheap shot:

source: http://espn.go.com/sportsnation/boston/chat/_/id/51387

Bru's response:

"...This is an offensive line that looks to get their shots. That was a nice way of saying they will cheap shot you at times, so don't stand around the pile and have yourself ready at all times. I remember playing against Detroit in Gillette Stadium and Mike Vrabel had an INT, with Raiola hitting him on the sideline to give him a concussion. I'm sure the Patriots were aware of Raiola and his history. First of all, you're glad no one got hurt. But you know you absolutely beat someone up when they get frustrated like that, and they decide to be tough when the game is over. You want to fight now? You want to come strong now? The game is over and now you want to talk trash and have this energy? What happened when the game was going on? We used to call these guys "fake tough guys" in the locker room. I get emotional about this because people still get mad about "running up the score" -- this isn't Pop Warner, this isn't high school, this even college. This is professional football. The games are played once a week. Defensively, we always knew our job was stop the offense and if we couldn't get that done, it was our fault. If you can't stop a team and they're scoring 50 points on you, whose fault is that. That's all I have to say."

Just loved the response to all of the yapping Suh was doing, saying "you don't run on us!"

Guess what, fake tough guy... yes we will, and you can't do squat to stop us. Scoreboard!

But we didn't even have to say any of it. Our plays did the talking.

Belichick, priceless.

Well, no one has less respect for No-class-man Suh than I do, but if "our plays did the talking" yesterday then the Pats decided that Suh was right.

They only ran the ball 20 times yesterday (90 yards), vs. 44 (246 yards) in the Indy game the week before and put in 53 Pass plays (349 yards) vs. 39 (257 yards) the week before.

We should never forget that Belichick's first objective in game planning is to take away what the other team does best. In the case of the Lions, no matter how much I disdain them, the way to do that was to respect their Run Defense and challenge their Pass Defense while running the ball only just enough to keep them honest. That's part of the reason they were so frustrated at the end of the game; we didn't play it on their terms.

I don't recall ever seeing anything like it before. It's a whole different thing from defenses who continue playing hard when the offense takes a knee.

The play had nothing to do with football: it was intended to injure (possibly severely). This demands a suspension IMO.

Yes, because 4.5 YPC is so bad against a team that had only been allowing 3.03 YPC..
A team that had allowed less than 70 rushing yards per game allowed 90.
A team that had previously only allowed 4 rushing TDs on the season, had that number increase by 50%.

No. The Pats didn't decide that Suh was "right" if you actually looked at the plays rationally.
