Mock Draft

With this team, Who cares!
Fully agreed, now take this current team, take away Amendola, add Mankins, a fresh crop of rookies, and retaining these guys, dynasty 2.0

1) Malcolm Brown DT Texas

2) Zach Hodges OLB Harvard

3) Senquez Golson CB Ole Miss

3c) Jarvis Harrison OG Texas A+M

4) Corey Robinson OT South Carolina

4) Ibraheim Campbell SS Northwestern

6) C.J. Olaniyan DE Penn State

6) Kaleb Johnson OG Rutgers

7) Jake Kumerow WR Wisconsin-Whitewater

Nice mock! I really like all the picks in the first four rounds.

I saw Campbell had a nice game this weekend.

Serious mock time.

1. Resign as many of our upcoming FAs as possible because this team is just so good right now.

Mock Draft

1 Trade 1&3 to move up

1. TJ Clemmings, OL, Pittsburgh

Arguably my favourite prospect right now. There is so much upside to Clemmings. Worth the trade up.

2 Marcus Hardison, DL, Arizona State

I have a second round grade on Hardison, hence this pick. An athletic 300b DL who reportedly runs a 4.7-4.8 forty, Hardison has 9 sacks this year and a couple of interceptions. I believe Hardison can play DE in a 4-3 (LDE) or 3-4 and at the 3-tech. I described him as a more sudden and athletic Stephon Tuitt, a comparison I like.

3 DeAndre Smelter, WR, Georgia Tech

Excellent size at 6-2, 220 with very good athleticism, Smelter is an outstanding blocker and an excellent hands catcher. I stick with my eval of Smelter, and I only have him in the third because of his inexperience. He takes the Tyms/Dobson spot on the roster and backs up LaFell, a good comparison for Smelter.

4A Adrian Amos, S, Penn State

A versatile defensive back to take Tavon Wilson’s spot on the roster. Leadership, experience, versatility and Penn State pedigree make him the type of player that BB likes.

4B Quinten Rollins, CB, Miami (OH)

Former basketball athlete, Rollins is making a real name for himself this year with four picks in his first four games. This is first year as a starter. I have yet to watch him, but those who have rave about him.

6 Lynden Trail, EDGE, Norfolk State

at 6-6, 260lbs, Lynden trail has excellent size and whilst I’ve only seen a 2013 highlight reel for him, it was enjoyable enough for him to get on this mock. A useful back of roster/practice squad prospect.

7 Terry Williams, NT, ECU

This pick is all about the upside. There are genuine questions about his character and maybe his conditioning, but 350lb player should not be able to move with the quickness that this guy does. Get him into camp and see if he clicks.

A fine effort, as usual. I wouldn't complain if it ended up going in that direction.

It was a tough choice between Clemmings/Hardison or something like Malcolm Brown/Ereck Flowers or Malcolm Brown/Cameron ERVING. My passion for Clemmings and the fact that Malcolm Brown has become the prospect du jour (rightfully I might add) is why I went with the first option.

And the more I see of Smelter, the more I like him.

Right now I have a lot of day 1-2 prospects that I really like in this draft:

- OL: Scherff/Clemmings > Collins > Erving/Sambraillo/Drango, with Fisher coming on, and Flowers a possibility as well
- DE/OLB: Oakman, Dupree, Fowler, Hunter, Calhoun
- DE/DT: Armstead, possibly Hardison (haven't watched enough, going mainly on your rec for now)
- DT: Brown, Shelton, Phillips, Goldman
- LB: McKinney

There are a lot of combinations with which I would be quite happy.

Smelter is more a latter round guy isn't he? ISN'T he also a really good baseball playyer?

I have a 3rd round grade on him. My only concern is his speed. And yes, he was a baseball player at GT but I don't know how good.

I bet all these mock drafts are going to go to there mock a CB to the patriots placeholder. They were doing it last year with Revis in the fold and now every mock will say, oh well Revis is going to leave so CB.

First time stopping in the draft forum in awhile. Can't wait to read what you all have been saying around here the last couple of months.

This team is loaded. I haven't really been following the draft prospects yet but here are the two biggest weaknesses on our current team IMO:

1. LG
2. WR3

So, here's where I stand:

1. Is there a Zach Martin type guard prospect in this draft?
2. If there is, how high will we have to trade up to land him?
3. If Rashad Greene for whatever reason is overlooked in this draft, then boom. I guess he's the earliest form of a draft binky at this point. He would be a great compliment to Edelman/Lafell IMO.

2015 "I have no idea about this draft yet" Mock

1. Trade up/stay put for a stud guard.
2. Rashad Greene
3-7. Time to start studying. :D

With Wendell's emergence at RG and Stork having a heck of a rookie year at C, the OL is missing a great LG from being young and beastly.

There are plenty of quality OL that probably aren't LTs but project well at either RT or LG.

Can I make one minor tweak? Love the Amos pick. He's gonna be a good pro. Played boundry cb early in his career. Can tackle, blitz and cover. Not a knockout safety. But, they're being legislated out of the league anyway. If we're keeping our fa's as you want, do we really need another cb? We have Amos at safety instead of moving Ryan there. We will have; Revis, Browner, Arrington, Dennard, Ryan and Butler. In terms of quality and quantity easily the best in the league. Hallum and Wright were raving about Rolle on one of their podcasts. But, I think a TE or G might make our 53.

Actually there is a great fit. Brandon Scherff-Iowa. Went into the season as a possible Top 5 pick at LT. Has struggled a bit in pass protection and some are suggesting he's a guard. If he falls to 20, I can see a trade up because we have extra picks. Doubt he falls that far though. Mayo, others and myself have been posting about this for a while. Need depth at DL and LB too IMO

I try to only mock players that I've watched or researched rather than just plucking names from the CBS pages and there aren't any TEs or OL at that spot that I like or know anything about. Both Amos and Rollins broke my rule but there just wasn't anyone else in that range that interested me.

1: Danielle Hunter - LDE
Playing RDE in LSU but I beleave he would project even better at LDE. Long arms and strong against the run, first step could be better - But can contain like BB prefer.

2: Spencer Drango - LG
Useing the Mankins pick to move up for his replacement. Cameron Erving is another option but i think he's off the board at this time.

3: Jordan Phillips - NT
Useing the other 4 round pick to move up for a BIG man. Louis Nix went #92. Phillips has more upside but his 2013 back surgery will hurt him.
.
3(Comp): Todd Gurley - RB
I have slottet Gurley here for now, but this pick is really for a injury. Last year 9ers picked Brandon Thomas with a 3 Comp pick, this time its Patriots.

6: Kaleb Johnson - RG
Played LT, RT and now LG for Rutgers. 45+ starts and a leader. Durability beats Ability right?

6(Comp): Karlos Williams RB
This guy is a better athlete then football player. Former Safety now RB, could replace Bolden as RB/ST player.

7: Andrew East - LS
Only guy there is a Video with, seems like a WR? Atleast there are a few trick players where he runs Down and catch for a new first Down.

Mayo will like that mock. Unfortunately Gurley's the only one I've seen so I can't really comment except to say that while I'm not sure about a 24o lb LDE, I like the positions in the first three rounds.

He is more the 240 lbs but that sayed, Ninko aint much bigger, and Hunter can add to hes body.

Very nice effort. First three picks would all be impact players.

As Manx says, I love that mock for the first 3 rounds. Hunter - Drango/Erving - Phillips would be a dream for me. I doubt Gurley would last that long, but I'd be fine with the pick there if he did. Not sure about Karlos Williams (though I've mocked him earlier in the year), and don't know enough about the other 2 guys.
