First off let us thank the Tampa Bay Bucs for if not their terrible personnel decisions we would not have had the 4 touchdowns today (Blount 2 and Wright 2). I have no doubt, whomever we draft with their 4th round pick this draft will become an all pro.

Next, let us look at the players brought in over the past few weeks, performances today:

Alan Branch – 3 tackles, 1 pass knock down, 1 QB hit
Jonathan Casillas – 4 tackles, 1 TFL
Akeem Ayers – 3 tackles, 1 sack, 1 TFL, 1 QB hit
LeGarrette Blount – 12 carries, 78 yards, 2 touchdowns

This type of production would make for a successful offseason forget in season. Speaking of offseason, the offseason moves showed up huge today.

LaFell – 9 catches, 98 yards
Wright – 5 catches, 36 yards, 2 touchdowns
Revis – 2 tackles, 4 pass defends
Chung – 6 tackles, 1 pass defend
Browner – 1 tackle, 2 pass defends

Those who feel Belichick is not a strong GM should take note; he has put together a team that has just been dismantling division leaders for the past 6 weeks.

They've really had a good run of picking up players. You can add Gray to the list as well.

If BB could just figure out how to draft WR's and CB's he'd be the perfect GM. :p

I can't believe how much I didn't want Chung to make the 53. He's been decent +.
$ for $ Pat Chung has been a better signing than TJ Ward who was considered the premier box safety on the UFA market. Chung's short coming was always health and poor decision making both of those things are much improved. I hope they sign him back next season.

1) This Is A Crime!!!! The G.O.A.T.'s Window is CLOSING!!!!!

2) Why aren't we going ALL IN???????

3) I Don't Care, I Can't Stand It!!!!!!!!!!!

Wouldn't say I was against Chung on the 53 but I'm very surprised he is more than a ST star and a last option from injury. So far his run support and competitive coverage has been a sweet surprise.

Chung and Arrington have looked really good this season.

Both of them were on our awful defenses a few years back. Just goes to show how much playing with Revis/Browner + a lot more experience and maturity can do for a player.

Keeping any QB in this era to under 40% completions is really amazing.

I think it has a lot to do with players being in positions to succeed now. When Chung struggled it was when he was forced to play free safety and spent a lot of his time in deep coverage. He has always been a very effective box safety. Arrington is consistently a top CB when covering the slot, his struggles are when he is forced to cover outside.

You should also give him props for Stork, hr grabbed the Remington award winner off a national championship team in the fifth round and plugged him once he got healthy and that has made all the difference in the world as far as the oline's play is concerned. Suh is an absolute beast and they (Connelly, Stork, Wendell) did a great job of keeping him off Brady.

There may be some truth behind that, but I'd also just add that draft picks are just players, and every player on the roster must earn their spot and make their own role. Nothing is handed out to the kids just because they were a high draft pick.

Guys like Taylor Price and Brandon Tate may have developed more if they had been given more reps and the opportunity to grow on the job. The Raiders have developed a lot of young WRs over the years but that's partly due to necessity.

I don't think BB ever predicts whether a draft pick is going to beat out a veteran for a job. I think he builds the roster with depth in mind, then lets competition take over. Even he doesn't know who will win that competition, but the point is to encourage that competition and see what happens. That's why you bring in Patrick Chung even though the media is handing the job to Harmon.

If development were goal #1, Dobson starts over LaFell. Boyce gets Amendola's snaps. You hope they grow into it. But we're contending for a championship and those guys aren't good enough to be on the roster or active on game day right now, so they sit. And I'm okay with that.

Felger's head will blow up if someone calls him and points out what a great job as GM he did this year. Revis, Browner and LaFell in the off-season. Wright, Ayers, Casillas, Branch and Blount after training camp started. Any volunteers??

BB recently made a statement that college football is so fundamentally different than the pro game that it takes players 2-3 years to really be able to play the pro game correctly. That is why I think his drafts are viewed as marginal (I actually think they are pretty good!) and his ability to find (and steal) free agents is considered so amazing. He is a very good judge of pro talent. And add to that, being the greatest coach of his era, he can turn a piece of coal into a diamond.

Chung is clearly benefiting from the Revis effect.

Revis ability to take half of the field away by himself, allows Chung to play in the box in the traditional SS role. And when BB/MP wants two safeties back, Harmon has been coming in.

Belichick's big on picking up players who had a good year or two but found themselves on the outs with their team due to personnel or coaching changes. His latest pick-ups; Alan Branch, Jonathan Casillas, Akeem Ayers and LeGarrette Blount, all fit this mold, having had success in the past. I think that is one of Bill Belichick's keys to picking up someone else's castoff. Well, that and being a strong student of the game, which is why the Patriots draft is often filled with team captains. Team captains usually have a strong love for the game and are often involved in game planning.

we got Ayers for basically nothing and now has 3 sacks

Branch was good yesterday
