Raiola told @davebirkett he dove at Zach Moore's knees in retaliation for Blount's 2nd TD when he felt the Pats should've taken a knee.

God, I hope he gets a big fine for this. If you are all about player safety then a statement like that can't be acceptable.

I'm glad to see how much the O line has improved over the last 7 weeks. And the receiving has come a long way as well.

Overall, the while team did really well. The secondary was good, despite the big passes they let by... when Stafford managed to complete a pass anyways.

The only thing I think saw wrong today was discipline. On both sides of the ball, stupid penalties. I felt like they played a little loose. The team still made a lot of plays despite the penalty yardage, so it didn't seem to matter much. But i still hope they work to clean up their game, especially before they play Green Bay out in the Midwest.

Raiola needs to shut his F**KING mouth and go back and look at the series of events before doing idiot moves like this.

1) The Patriots DO run the ball and SUH is heard on air making stupid comments of "You're not gonna run on my defense".
2) C.J. Mosley illegally hits Aiken in the head with his helmet on the FG try, giving the Pats 1st and goal at the 1..
3) Pats run in it to send a message to Suh, Mosley, and the Lions defense about running your mouths on the field when your losing.
4) Riaola goes after Zach Moore's knees 5 plays later. Moore wasn't even on the field for the Offense..

Sure looks to me like Raiola is a complete moron..

The only reason the safety could pick that off was because Gronk was effectively tackled. Should have absolutely been a penalty.

No Brady missed on that play

The only time that I know of that you can't block below the waist is when a player is already engaged. That wasn't the case for Harmon's target.. Harmon's target was running free..

I looked it up, Article 14a indicates blocking below the waist is illegal on a change of possession.

Edit: Article 14a of the Player Conduct section (12).

Not sure what's worse the cheap shot or the explanation.

Oh they scored on us so that makes it ok for me to take cheap shots.

I mean you make the cheap shot on the goal line to keep us out at least there is an end to the means but the way he says it it is a case of if your not good enough then go Tanya Harding.

Most of the penalties called against the Patriots today were bogus. In fact I had it down that 7 of the penalties were complete BS. I also had down that the refs missed the calls against Detroit starting with the very first play of the game. The only reason it was a 40 something yard completion is that Pettigrew illegally held Chung and kept him from making the tackle.. The refs also missed 2 offsides calls against the Lions, an illegal hands to the face during Blount's 1st TD run, an illegal hands to the face by a Lions O-lineman against Ninkovich on the short pass to Bell that was blown up behind the LOS, and there were several egregious holding calls where they took down Pats defensive players.

No Brady missed on that play
Whether it was a perfect pass or not should be beside the point. Gronk was clearly interfered with/held. The defender had both arms wrapped around his waist hanging on for dear life.

Agree the refs were awful and one sided. It shows how good this team is though when there is that much a disparity in big penalties/penalty yardage and you STILL blow a team out. A good team at that.

This defense posted it's best performance to date. They were beating Stafford up and it showed. I believe that fourth down run where he missed it by a yard because he decied to slide rather than dive was a direct result of our physicality. Revis is awesome, would love if they found a way to keep him and Browner around at least a few more years.

That defense, coupled with Ryan Allen, really bailed us out with the early offensive struggles. Coming out of that sequence with just a three point defecit and our offense getting to start a drive from our thirty-five despite not moving at all the first couple drives, made a huge difference that normally goes unnoticed because the offense did get rolling after that.

Offense did disappointin the second half, though it was good seeing Blount running well late. HOPEFULLY Gray's punishment is short-lived because those two will make a heck of a combo.

Amendola plays a big role on KR. I know the popular opinion is that KR barely matters anymore, but it really can and you never know when a big return can give a much needed boost. Of course, he's quite overpaid as a KR but hopefully they find a solution in the offseason or find a cheaper option. He's a considerable downgrade from Edelman on PR, but I don't mind reducing the toll on Edelman, I feel like he's taking way too many hits.

Praying that Lafell is okay. Really need him next couple weeks.

Don't know what you are looking at because the only article 14 in the NFL rule book is Rule 12, section 2, article 14 and it deals with the facemask penalty.

http://static.nfl.com/static/content/public/image/rulebook/pdfs/15_2013_Player_Conduct.pdf

The correct rule would be Rule 12, Article 5 (a).

And it would seem they made the correct call, though I know I have seen plenty of defensive players go "lower" than the waist previously..

Calling the defense the best since 2003 should wait a week. There were lots of dropped passes that would have resulted in lots of yards and points by Detroit.

Let's be clear, the secondary played great. My point is that they were not as good as the stats would indicate.

I love this team. It reminds me of the championship teams of the early 2000s. Especially the defense.

Might have been an older rulebook. Regardless, they apparently got that one right, one of the very few times today. I thought it was telling that of the subjective calls (def. holding, DPI, holding) today, the Patriots had about 7, and Detroit were only 2.

Consider that the physicality of Browner, Revis, Chung, and even McCourty against the receivers causes a lot of those drops.

Overall it was a boring game but a solid win.

The run D was good. They found a way to get some yards against us in some weird ways (QB runs and end arounds) but we shut down their main RB.

The Pass D though good was helped by the incompetence of Stafford and the Lions WRs that dropped a lot of balls. It was still a good showing but could have been more competitive.

Blount is making his presence felt and seems like he will be able to contribute here in his roll.

Brady was amazing for a stretch this season but has fallen back down to earth a bit the last 2 games. He will hopefully get back on track a bit before playoffs. Still playing well enough but he is missing a lot of deep throws and has 2 passes that could have been intercepted by Inhedigbo (1 was). Hopefully he will get past this and be playing his best ball in the playoffs.

Injuries don't look too serious but i will be interested to see the Wednesday report.

This game showed teams can limit Gronk if they focus on it but Lafell/Edelman/Wright/Vereen proved they can win 1v1 if you do that. Brady needs to stop trying to force it to Gronk if it is not there. That has caused him problems in the past and bit him in the ass this game.

The most impressive thing about this win for me was the OL play. They were able to spring a few runs but more importantly gave brady good protection against one of the most feared DL men in the game. Bodes well for them. Stork again held up well.

The DL got more pressure this game than last game i think. I would need to see a break down of it but I think everyone had a good impact.

I will put it this way.. Without a replay to review i would say right now...

QB - B+
RB - B+
WR/TE - A -
OL - A
DL - B
LB - B-
DB - B+
ST - A

Belichick8384 - You can disagree all you want but that doesn't change the fact that you're wrong about the Pats "lack of discipline".

The refs clearly missed the holding by Pettigrew on the 1st play of the game that sprung Tate.
The Holding Call on Vollmer was ridiculous because his hands stayed inside the defensive players shoulders and he didn't grab the jersey.
They refs missed the entire Detroit Defensive line being lined up off-sides on the 3rd and 5 that resulted in a pass to Edelman.
The Holding call on Chung when he supposedly held Fauria was complete fiction. Chung never had the jersey. There was contact inside the 5 yards, but that was it.
The refs missed an illegal hands to the face by the D-lineman that was tied up with Wendell on Blount's 1st TD.
The Detroit RT had his hands on Ninkovich's facemask on the swing pass to Joique Bell that was blown up 3 yards behind the LOS.
The Holding Call on Collins was another work of fiction. Collins didn't grab the jersey nor hold the receiver.
The Offside call that they claimed was Collins was actually #55 Ayers.
The flag on Arrington in the 2nd Half was another work of fiction.
The False Start on Lafell was garbage. Lafell had literally just taken his stance when the side judge threw. He had never been set. So to claim a false start was ludicrous.
Vince Wilfork got dragged to the ground in the 2nd half on a play where he was clean up the middle and would have plastered Stafford and no call was made.
The OPI on Gronkowski was another work of fiction. Gronkowski and Levy collided within the 5 yards and then Levy held Gronkowski from getting away. Calling off-setting penalties there was pure BS.

I don't have a problem with you "disagreeing", but you should, at least offer up some substance to your disagreement..

See and that's my own stupidity. I knew it was Edelman but went to NFL.com to make sure I wasnt crazy and that it was Chung (and not Bolden) that cause the return to be called back and they have Amendola as the one who returned it.

i'm pretty sure it was amendola

i'm pretty sure it was amendola
No. It was Edelman on the Punt Return for the TD that was called back. And it was a "block in the back" by Chung that got it called back.. He was correct. I was wrong.

I agree the refs missed some calls. I'm not disputing that. I just don't share the same philosophy of blaming everyone else for things some players did.

You can over analyse all you want, but it doesn't change the fact that the pats keep committing dumb penalties that they shouldn't be. They can play a lot better. And as good as they are, that says a lot.
