Stork - Zero Sacks Allowed.....Offensive Line 9th Best Sacks Allowed

Sacks aren't an awful way to judge an oline as I do think they can give you an idea but a more important stat I want to know, especially a with a quick release QB like Brady, is hits. How many shots has Brady taken compared to last year? IMO that is the real judge of oline improvement because if you keep Brady upright for the season the patriots are going far.

50 hits this year...16th in the league. Last year, all season they had 81 and were 17th in the league.

What's the trend? I would have guessed that 338 of those came against just Oakland and KC. Is it possible to have negative hits since then?

That sounds about right based on what my eyes tell me. They started out the year awful and have been playing pretty good since week 5 which comes out to average. 16th in the league is average and where, based on the season as a whole, I would have ranked them. The trend is definitely going up though

All centers (or C/G) drafted before Stork:

"The Giants have benched rookie LG/C Weston Richburg.
Adam Snyder will get the start between LT Will Beatty and C J.D. Walton in Week 12 against the Cowboys. Activated off I.R./recall this week, Geoff Schwartz will make his Giants debut at right tackle, replacing an injured Justin Pugh (quad) next to RG John Jerry. Richburg, the 43rd pick in May, needs to get stronger."

"Marcus Martin, the USC prospect whom San Francisco drafted in Round 2 this year, made his first NFL start after spending the first half of the season on the sidelines with a knee injury suffered in the preseason.
Aaron Donald beat Martin for the Rams' seventh sack of the game, per Maiocco, and it was clear that the rookie center was not having the debut that 49ers fans were hoping for. In addition to the sack, Martin also wasn't quite in line with Colin Kaepernick as the two had a number of mishaps on snaps. Damon Bruce of 95.7 The Game noted Martin's on-field concerns: Marcus Martin is having as bad a game as a lineman can have. The rookie center is shook."

Travis Swanson is playing decently for Detroit although he just made the starting line-up recently and has allowed a sack. Travis was drafted in the 3rd round at #76.

Stork was drafted in the 4th round at #105. So much for BB not being able to draft.

50 QB hits on Brady

28 on Manning for comparison

Richburg got benched for not being strong enough? I'm SHOCKED at this news :p

Said in the draft thread when people were mocking him to the Pats that he was too small & not strong enough, looks like that's the case so far. But that's the risk you take drafting sub 300lbs Centers who aren't that athletic and come from weak conferences.

That stat certainly looks good for the Denver OL. BUT, for what it's worth...

On Broncos forums the fans are complaining that post-neck-surgery Peyton looks terrified of getting hit, and will rush a back-foot pass or throw the ball away when stepping into the throw and accepting a routine hit would have led to a completion.

Future Pro Bowler, Bryan Stork. Kid is an anchor and the main difference right now in this improved OLine.

Getting rid of Mankins and freeing up that massive Cap hit and coming out of it with a better OLine is pure genius on BBs part.

Last week against the Indianapolis Colts, eight quarterback pressures on thirty pass attempts. Two of the quarterback pressures led to interceptions thrown by Tom Brady, the second of which was of the egregious variety.

It appears that BB's choice of a Center, whose job description also includes smarts, leadership and making line calls, was and is correct. BB put Stork in the category of a "once-a-decade Center" in a recent interview.

Other teams selected players with possibly more intrinsic athletic ability perhaps; but seem to have ended up without the whole package.

The Rimington Trophy selection committee chose Bryan Stork over the others, as the best collegiate Center. BB has confirmed the wisdom of their selection.

PS: As an aside, BB surprised everyone when he selected Sebastion Vollmer at Tackle while everybody's choice of Will Beatty was there. The Giants promptly chose him with the very next pick. Now the Giants are conceding that Beatty will be benched.

This is another indication of the quality of BB's selection system, that chose an unknown, who has already garnered Pro Bowl selection.

Really?

I guess the rejuvenation of Dan Connolly and Ryan Wendell play no part whatsoever in the stability of the offensive line. Two offensive lineman that prior to the 2014 NFL Season, a majority of posters on this message board wanted replaced.

Marcus Cannon offensive guard - flop
Jordan Devey offensive guard - flop and inactive the past two games
Josh Kline offensive guard - flop
Chris Barker offensive guard - banished to the practice squad

A sack-free season, delivered to you by the Stork!!!

YAHHHHH!!!

Okay... maybe that doesn't work...

Just tack a "Yo Soy Fiesta" on the bundle and we're good to go :p

I can't, in any honest way, call Cannon a flop. He was a fifth round pick and he has filled in pretty well at tackle, his position, when called upon.

Three undrafted free agents and a 5th rounder, not quite sure what you are saying here.

Marcus Cannon is what he is. Marcus Cannon is serviceable backup right tackle, not a starting offensive guard.

It is disingenuous to give all the credit to Bryan Stork for solidifying the offensive line, while Connolly and Wendell get none of the credit.
