The only record Brady is chasing is most Super Bowl wins by a QB. Manning wants to play until he gets all the individual statistic records. That is why he only has one ring and it is looking more and more like he may retire with just one ring.

Brady will end up being the first qb with >200 wins he is already the all time leader in playoff wins and is far and away the leader for reg season winning % in the modern era.

Manning is one of the all-timers. Smart, prepared. But he DOES love those stats. Speculation from the "reporter" seems legit, but to say it is for sure would be ridiculous.

The keep away rubbed me the wrong way.

I dislike Manning for a lot of things. But a stupid celebratory dance, and media speculation on one of the reasons he may continue playing isn't one of them.
Make your mind up what you would like to discuss if you wouldn't mind. The scripted TD or Manning stat chasing (as per usual).

If I were Rappaport I'd make sure to give Manning a wide birth if in the same vicinity. He's under contract for the next 2 years. Rap's making it sound like he's a FA and just coming back for #'s. I'm by no means a Manning guy, but this is a bit ridiculous by Rap.

The "my account was hacked" story soon to follow.

Did we really need to hear this from Rapapport? Thought it was obvious.

why do we talk about this manning guy on here any differently than other good QB's? Surely he is not on the same level as our QB, TB12. It's almost unjust to Brady's accomplishment to compare him to Manning because Brady frankly has accomplished more where it counts, win and win the big ones.

Manning is a great QB that is breaking records because of situation and longetivity. Other QB's that have played long had records before him as well. Just volume. Manning has had variables in his favor, teams built around him (Indy), played in domes, and convince his organization to give him reign on a pass first offense which is great in a controlled dome. Then he inherited a team in DEN that had the pieces except a QB and they too were willing to give him control to achieve.

What Brady has done is more with less, and more effectively.

IMO, if my job is to win, and I do it better than anyone else, it would be disrespectful to me for my boss ( in this case fans) to go compare me to they guy that has been on the job longer and hasn't done as well as me but is flashy about it.

Brady not in same conversation as Manning.

his going to throw for over 5000 yards and 40 TD's this year after a record year his only been sacked 11 times and he has a good young team around him why would he retire after this year

Brady is in a conversation reserved for only him. Sorry Joe (and Otto).

sorry - my sentence was off. watching game, monitoring kids, getting distracted.

what i meant was manning isnt in the same conversation as brady and other all time greats. I personally think Brady is the GOAT GOAT

"He'll want to hold all the records..." except the meaningful one it would appear.

And the ones that involve actually winning (e.g., best record, most games over .500). Heck, Brady is only 19 games behind Manning right now when you only count regular season games; add in playoff games, and he's only 12 behind.

I think Manning is a very, very good player. You don't achieve his level of success without being an exceptional player. The thing is, when it is all said and done, Tom Brady may well go down as one of the greatest sportsman in the history of your country because he wins no matter what system is in place and what moving pieces are put around him. To me, the ability to change whilst maintaining your core proficiencies is what sets Brady apart from Manning.

Brady's light shines the brightest in the biggest moments.

I've reached the point where I genuinely don't give a f### what he does, how long he does it, who he does it against, who he does it with (as long as it's never here), where he does it, ad infitinum. Of course, once he's gone we'll still have to deal with Little Bubba in NJ with the homeliest **** God ever placed anywhere in the freaking universe... Naturally, it won't be long until one of them, or both, will have a son who's a QB and we can start this chuckle fest all over again.

Remember, Brady has 2 sons. The oldest is tall and looks like his Dad. Beware, Manning family.

The Australian Football League has a Father-Son rule. If the father played a certain amount of games for his team, that team can put in a claim on that player come draft time. There's a host of rules around it, but two Bradys... I could be down with that.

Not to mention Brady has played his entire career in an era where the league has 32 teams, each of whom are held to a salary cap. That .776 winning percentage is simply astonishing.

peyton, all of the records will never erase the fact that youre a choke artist.

Sadly, no such rule exists now in the NFL. . . . Although maybe Brady could adopt Garoppolo. ;)

Brady not in same conversation as Manning.

Look, TB is at the top of the 2-man GOAT discussion (Montana).

Manning is at the top of the 5(or so)-man almost-GOAT discussion (with Marino, fouts, Kelly, Young, Unitas, graham....) . He is an exceptional qb who has only had two seasons with less than 10 wins (1st & 4th) IN the SALARY CAP ERA.. I don't think any of those others in his tier carried their teams as much (reg season), and of course they never choked as much in post-season.

So it is a bit unfair to say he is 'just another good or great qb'.

Also a bit unfair to blame manning for the thoughts rappaport assumes are in his head.

That said, every one of the narcissistic jabs Hits home (TRUE DAT), and the nbr 1 reason to hate manning a(and discount the stat-whore) remains unstated in the thread: that he is the only one of the top qbs who had the entire NFL rule book re-written NOT JUST ONCE BUT TWICE, just so a championship could be orchestrated for him.

[... And then when that also failed they tried to use the refs ON THE FIELD to interfere for him and failed at that ONE of two seasons they tried, but that is another story]

I'm shocked, I thought he had been focused on Most Big Losses By a HOF QB all along.

I guess he has other goals in mind as well.

I look forward to another year of watching him spend 20 seconds gesticulating and shouting audibles only to dump low risk 5 yard passes that won't get intercepted but will get his receivers murdered.

Under which circumstance is Manning more likely to win another ring?

1. He retires before next season?
2. He, for whatever combination of reasons, plays next season?

Even if Rapoport's attempted mind-read of Manning is 100% accurate, I don't see what there is in it to criticize him for.
