2015 NFL Mock Drafts

Dane Brugler has a new mock up. Has a guy in there we talked about last week. Has Malcolm Brown - DT - Texas going 26. Texas D is really coming around after a terrible start. Shelton going 23rd. I'm starting to lean towards a DT instead of a DE in Round 1. Willing to use my 3rd to move up. My reasoning; While I'd like to sign a younger DT in free agency. I doubt it. Want to focus on extending Revis. Signing McCourty and re-doing Mayo's contract. VW is looking good. Bring him back next year and red-shirt his eventual replacement. Shelton or Brown. If Mayo comes back, the combo of Hightower or Collins can take snaps to give Ninko some rest.

I watched cann manhandle the Florida d line last weekend and now I am starting to think that cann would look really good as the patriots pick at #32.

I tend to agree with this assessment since T.J. Clemmings continues to rise up the draft boards. Furthermore, this year's draft looks like a tremendous opportunity to stock pile offensive lineman. Dan Connolly and Marcus Cannon will be unrestricted free agents.

Quarterback is a low priority. Fullback is a low priority. The tight end class is crap.

The New England Patriots have four wide receivers under contract for next year: LaFell, Dobson, Edelman, Amendola. Brian Tyms will be an ERFA. Boyce is on the practice squad and is eligible for a future's contract. Jonathan Krause is on the practice squad and is eligible for a future's contract. The New England Patriots only activate four wide receivers on game day (five if you include Slater).

Still don't want a RB on Day 2. Otherwise, I like your list.

Time for an update.

Assumptions:

- Pats' re-sign/extent Devin McCourty, Darrelle Revis, Akeem Ayers, Alan Branch, Jonathan Casillas, Shane Vereen, James Develin and Dan Connolly.
- Pats get 3rd and 6th round comp picks.

1. Malcolm Brown - DT - Texas. 6'2" 320#. VW's successor.
*** Pats trade their 2nd and TB's 4th to move up to around #50
2. Danielle Hunter - DE/OLB - LSU. 6'6" 245#. Barkevious Mingo II, but stronger. I think he'll be better than Randy Gregory.
3. Jake Fisher - OL - Oregon. 6'6" 300#. I think he could be Kyle Long II. Plays with a nasty disposition.
3 (comp). Jaquiski Tartt - S - Stamford. 6'1" 218#.
4. Jarvis Harrison - OL - Texas A&M. 6'3" 325#. Or Laken Tomlinson, OG, Duke (6'3" 320#).
6 (from TB). MyCole Pruitt - TE - Southern Illinois. 6'3" 255#. Competition for Hooman.
6 (comp). Kasen Williams - WR - Washington. 6'2" 220#. Competition at split end.
7 (from Tenn). Stephone Anthony - ILB - Clemson. 6'2" 245#. Depth at LB.

No TJ Clemmings, Bud Dupree, Dante Fowler, Shawn Oakman. :( But tons of talent and versatility.

Sign me up for a draft like that. Great job Mayo. I value DL more than G. Good way of approaching it.

Thanks. I think Hunter could end up being really, really good. And I agree with your rationale.

Really like the Brown and Fisher picks (Fisher is on my radar too). Can't really comment on the others. Good job.

Edit: I'm fairly comfortable giving Malcolm Brown a late first round grade.

I have TJ Clemmings, La'El Collins, Brandon Scherff and Dante Fowler on top of my board right now (from a Patriots perspective) with Bud Dupree, Malcolm Brown, Todd Gurley and Marcus Hardison behind them. Personally, I wouldn't take anyone in tier 2 ahead of those in tier one.

Just noticed that CBS have Clemmings up to #23. Justified but ouch!

Marcus Hardison? Haven't heard you mention him before. When did that happen? Also, I gather you've sweetened on Collins (or looked at him). Finally, why Fowler over Dupree? That seems like a change for you. Did something change?

For me, I'm happy to group Collins along with Scherff, Clemmings, and possibly Sambraillo as my top group of OLs. Oakman, Fowler, Dupree and possibly Hunter and Calhoun are the DEs that I would group at the top, along with Brown at DT. That's 9 guys who I think would be solid additions in the late 1st round (some with trade ups). Gurley isn't on my list.

1. I've mentioned Hardison a couple of times as an athletic 5-tech type from Arizona State. CBS have just started to move him upwards, albeit as a 7th-UDFA but he'll climb higher. Has a reported 4.7 40 at 300lbs and six sacks in his last four games as well as an INT and a couple of PBUs.

2. Yes I have looked at Collins and was extremely impressed. I started doing a mock and had Collins as my #1 LT in the mock. Once he blocks you, you stay blocked.

3. Just watched Dupree a little and I have some niggling doubts about his work ethic. Doesn't get as involved quite as much as I'd like. I still think he's a good fit as an ideal athletic/size guy but I think Fowler is a close to perfect BB prospect.

FWIW, Hunter reportedly runs a 4.6 and has a 38" VJ at 6'6" 245#. Very strong upper body for his weight, surprisingly strong against the run. Supposedly a great work ethic. I'm having trouble finding enough film right now.

That certainly sounds intriguing. i'm sure the moment he declares, Draft Breakdown will have plenty of videos.

just thought of another one for my tier one and that's Maxx Williams if he declares. He'd give us a genuine shot at the Gronk/Hernandez offence again. I think Tim Wright is an excellent redone TE but he's not offering much elsewhere yet although that might just be a case of being integrated into the offence slowly. But Williams is the real deal.

North Carolina at Duke tonight. Should be a shoot-out. Chance to get a look at Tomlinson. K-ST at WVA is the other game. Like some WVU kids; White - WR, Joseph - S, Riddick - de/olb. And, of course. Little Gronk at FB for K-St.

Draftinsider (Tony Pauline's site) has a top 10 mock out:

http://www.draftinsider.net/blog/?p=10197

Leonard Floyd as a top 10 pick (ahead of Shane Ray).

He says NYG need a LT to protect Eli. He drafts Ogbuehi to do that who has been moved by Texas A&m from LT to RT because he couldn't handle it. A swing tackle we might want to take a peak at with 96, supplemental or early 4th is the kid A&M moved from LG to LT. Jarvis Harrison 6'4" 325lb

1. Malcolm Brown Texas, DT
2. Cameron Erving FSU, OT/C
3a. Justin Hardy, East Carolina, WR
3s. Jeff Huermann, Ohio State, TE
4t. Jake Ryan, Michigan, OLB
4b. Preston Smith, Miss State, DE
6. David Johnson, N. Iowa, RB
6s. Jake Smith, Louisville, C

Harrison's been getting a fair amount of buzz of late. Both ESPN and CBS have moved him up.
